    Hello Unicron!

    I think at this point people should know what to expect from the Transformers franchise. If you dislike Bay's movies, then I doubt that this is really going to change your mind. If you like them, then this may be for you.

    There's little doubt that Michael Bay is a master at what he does, and while a lot of people are eager to slam his quick-edit, slo-mo, loud style, few directors can claim to have a style that's so easily recognisable, and I find that speaks for him. I just find that Bay tends to fall out of his element when it comes to smaller-scale, more intimate stories that require more emotional subtlety. Mind you, I thought Pain & Gain was one of his best, so there's that.

    I don't really feel any compulsion to see this at the cinema, especially not after the dreadful Age of Extinction, but I may risk a look on Bluray.

    Yeah, at least the transformers movies know they are terrible. The last one was actively trolling people for watching it.

    Best bit of the whole series. Finally Bay got something interesting enough to him to write some dialogue

    @IslandMonkey
    I really liked Pain & Gain. 13 Hours is also surprisingly good.

    @PES_Fanboy Laminated rape card?

    I didn't watch 4 after 3 turned out to make my eyes bleed.

    It's actually more of a laminated paedo card. Laminated statutory rape card perhaps?

    Not watched 4 yet, although I'll prob stick it on Netflix at some point to see how bad it is. I dont think I've really enjoyed a Bay movie since Armageddon (although I do have a soft spot for the first Transformers film).

    Pain and Gain was shite I thought. Not seen 13 Hours.

    @Graxlar_v2 To save you watching the film. Mark Wahlberg's character has a 17 year old daughter. At the beginning her 20 year old boyfriend turns up and helps save them from the baddies. Marky Mark didn't know she had a boyfriend.

    So they're hiding out in an abandoned garage and Mark has it out with the boyfriend, because she's underage still. Boyfriend goes "nuh-uh, we started dating when I was underage too, and that means it's legal under Texas' Romeo and Juliet law". Then out of his wallet he pulls a laminated card with that law printed on it.

    Which suggests he feels he's in the situation often enough that he has to carry that card with him, and get it laminated. On top of that, with Michael Bay's casting call reputation... What's he trying to say exactly? :D

    A three hour movie about battling robot aliens and the only thing anyone remembers is the laminated pedo licence.

    It's rather a damning indictment of that film that the card was the most interesting and memorable thing about it.

    Not true. I remember the really poorly unitlised dinobots and the new man-made Galvatron with his flying voxel design (that seems to have been dropped for this sequel).
    There's the massive flying prison with the transformer-dogs too.

    It was all just a bit shit. I "like" 1 and 3. 2 and 4 are poor. Maybe it's a case of even and odd, and this one will be ok?

    Sooner Bay is done the better, hopefully get back to some G1 inspired TF not some alien bots we got now with the Bayformers.

    Unless you specifically mean "making really shitty movies" as "what he does", he's still terrible at what he does. Regardless of having a recognisable style. Uwe Boll had a recognisable style. Big, brainless popcorn action films are done millions of times better, several times a year.

    I had the misfortune of watching Transformers 2 at the cinema and it was the most boring, incomprehensible garbage I've ever seen and by all accounts they've gotten even worse since that film came out.

    I dont expect anything other than nice shiny cars turning into robots followed by explosions, pretty much all I cared about when I grew up watching the cartoons.

    I wonder if he's going to reuse footage from another one of his movies again. That happened in Transformers 1 and 3, right? (Pearl Harbor and The Island, respectively)

    p.s. 13 hours is actually kinda decent, which shows he can make a good movie occasionally
