We know that Denial of Service attacks adversely affect gamers and damage the gaming experience. Attacks cost the video games industry millions of pounds each year.

Due to your interest in video gaming we are posting to inform you of recent enforcement action taken against customers of a DDoS-for-Hire service.

Netspoof was an explicitly criminal service offering an illegal DDoS-for-Hire tool.

DDoS attacks are illegal in UK law under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. They are also illegal in a number of other jurisdictions.

12 people have been arrested in the UK for deploying this DDoS-for-Hire service and 30 people have received warning visits from Police Officers.

Internationally, law enforcement agencies have targeted more than 100 DDoS-for-Hire users:

I fully support this initiative, but I'm just not quite sure what we can do about it ourselves. You don't want us to submit a report every time PSN goes down for a couple of hours surely?
