Good to see Danny get some love. For those who are not familiar with his work, he done a series on Gamespot called the Point. It is fantastic and well worth trawling through.

Part one of his Witcher 3 series for example.

I see he wants to go make docs outside of North America. I wonder what is lined up next?
I really wish more big studios dropped their typical post-release secrecy and NDA contracts and opened themselves up for more independently produced documentaries like this. Hopefully the stellar showing id gave here encourage them to do so.

Like I said a page back, there aren't remotely enough of them out there. This industry feels far too closed in and insular at times in comparison to other media, which is unfortunate as it's by far the most interesting and varied.

Saw that the other day. Was disappointed that it didn't go into the questions everyone want to know.

New episode is up. ''Tis good! Just a general overview of the lost of art of mysteries in games. Enjoyed it a lot. Really engaging and weirdly got me all excited for all things games. Made my heart swell in passion. God that sounds corny. So much to discuss I don't know where to even begin.

    This one, I assume:

Yeah, a fun video. I don't think I ever really got into mystery like that though - for me gamefaqs opened up games a lot more than before, and I didn't really mind the puzzles being spoiled. I guess I never had the patience for them; I remember getting Monkey Island 1 working under scummvm on my phone back in the 90s, and while I never looked that up on gamefaqs, I never went back to it once I got stuck. I did complete both of the Portal games without cheating though, and I spent bloody ages in that area the first time you get outdoors in Portal 2 - I'm still not sure if I solved it in the way I was meant to. I remember setting up massive drops and then moving the out gate so that I'd be fired out at enormous velocities and land in odd places on the stage.

It's just made me want to go play Spelunky again. Although that's not so unusual for me.

So, Danny posted a six months post-mortem/general natter/patreon beg yesterday. Watch if you want to see him in a badly lit room looking like a poorly zombie:

Then go and play this in preparation for the next video. Seriously, do give it a spin.

And finally, an actual new noclip video, clocking in at under half an hour for a change:

Looks like I need to subscribe to his noclip channel as well then. I'm currently only subscribed to his personal channel, and the O'carina of Time series seems to have stalled indefinitely, and we've only really had a few PUBG streams since, while noclips been publishing stuff behind my back.

He did a 12-hour charity stream as part of the Giant Bomb Extra Life stuff the other day that was mostly PUBG, quite relaxing to have on in the background. Should be archived on Twitch.

Had a big binge of the noclip stuff the other day. Great to here more about the story behind Spelunky as it's such a ridiculously good game!

Check out Cloth Map if you know Danny from the Giant Bomb stuff at all - it's Drew Scanlon's travel-documentary-games project that he started after leaving the site.

Yay, new noclip vid, and it's short yet it's not another bloody interview (aside: I like the interviews actually, but it's nice for a change).

I adore videos like this where people eloquently explain what they love about the games they love.

Thanks for pointing his new video out, i just glossed over it going through my subscriptions :|

I'd been pretty apathetic towards FPS for a while, but Doom and Titanfall 2 i loved, think Danny puts into words what i couldn't.

Will also check out cloth map mentioned in the post above. Are there any other great video creators out there people could recommend?

New series; new episode. It's something of a backstory piece, covering Digital Extreme's work from the Unreal Titles with Epic through their work to contract stuff, and end with them at pretty much the bottom having burned through their reserves. The next episode should start from there and be a fun journey.

Also, that office seems to be stocked with a hell of a lot of booze.

The Half Life episode is up. I feel a playthrough on the cards at some point over Christmas after watching it.

Valve are an odd bunch - doesn't seem like too long since they were pretty much untouchable, now everyone's having a go at them. Shame they took the silent monolith route so we'll never know what they're thinking. Especially about Half-Life.
