I'm 100% convinced that if we attack them in winter then, THIS TIME, it'll work.

The sockpuppet make me feel somewhat better:

That is... if Trump doesn't stick his thumb up his ass.

And that's just ONE NATO ally. That is... if Erdogan doesn't stick his thumb up his ass.

All this political instability makes me nervous.

Realistically, I'm not worried about Western Europe. France and the UK have the nuclear card if Putin crosses the Polish border. Europe isn't THAT divided.
I'm also confident that it won't be a conventional war anyway. At most, Putin will try to badly destabilize his neighbours politically up till the point that rebel groups will call out for Russia's aid.

I am badly worried about the Baltic States, the Ukraine and to a lesser extend, Finland though. :-(

I don't think I've ever been worried about Finland, but that reflects badly on me, not you.

As a pedant I have to point out that RAINBOW is a multinational counterterrorism organisation that has Russians in it and is also based in Hereford.

Nah. I appreciate it might take a while for you to come to terms with the fact that you've been lied to, that Trump won't actually fulfil his campaign pledges and that the big scary liberal world you think you live in isn't as extreme as you think it is.

Is there something erotic in all this? Do Errol and dunces like him get some sort of sexual thrill about the thought of being dominated by autocratic despots?

Do you bottom Errol? Other than Farage are there any other more homegrown politicians you'd like to be taken to task by?

    You cant be that dumb.

Why do all the Trump supporters think that Hillary had started a war and Trump will cause peace? Russia isn't a victim of the Democrats and only lashing out to defend itself. Furthermore, Trumps is tactless, like he has shown with Taiwan and China. If anything, he'll cause one with his lack of insight into global diplomacy.

Both the US and Russia are diplomatic aggressors. The only thing that will stop a war is a balance of power, not rolling over thinking the other is just misunderstood.

Wonder what Trump would've done in the Cuban missile crisis.

"Nukes on Cuba? Blockading that will cause a war. Let them. It's only fair."
"The Berlin Wall? Rubbish. We can build that thing 10x higher. I know a few guys."
"They're invading Korea again? Never cared for dumplings. Korean women are a 6, tops. Let them"
"Soviet armies coming up through Alaska? Don't worry people, I'm cool with the Russians. We'll work something out."
"Good news everyone. I worked out a deal. Democratic capitalism is overrated. These United States is now the American Soviet Union."

Trump is a gullible pussy, the guy least capable of standing up to other world leaders. We need need to do an ovary transplant between Donald and Hillary and make sure Trump wears them on the outside this time.

Having a spineless egotist like Trump leading one of the most powerful nations is not going to increase global stability.

Even if he somehow "sorted out" Russia (he won't, though he might kowtow to Putin), his carelessness is already pissing off other, powerful countries (China, for example).

Well, I certainly can't help noticing the increasing regularity of news stories on BBC News 24 (i.e. UK-Gov mouthpiece) blaming Russia for a wide variety of evils and provocations.

And, if I was paranoid, I might suspect that a curated narrative of that sort was for the purpose of planting seeds in the national consciousness designed to pay off later in the form of public acceptance of some kind of pre-planned action as justified and "necessary".

I think we've long been in a Cold War with Russia, and they pretty much declared it when they started interfering in the affairs of other countries, starting with Ukraine, then the EU (France and Germany in particular), now the US.
The series of conflicts that the Crimea is in belongs to the same one as the Russo-Georgian war in '08. Basically places that have economic depression and a historically soviet population. It's a long way from starting a world war.

Now their messing with the democratic party in the run up to an election in the US is something else and at the very least hardcore diplomacy. But so far militarily at least, Russia has not yet shown any keenness to fight the west.

I am sure the Russians will be fine with it. It's not like assassination is outside of their play book. Sabre's will be rattled no doubt but can't see anything else happening.

It'll be fine. What's the worst that can happen from a senior representative of a European empire being shot dead in the Balkans?

Well I'm ok, I have a considerable stock of cheap Vodka in the shed that I will pour merrily into glasses once I hear the tapping of an AK74 belonging to our new Russian overlords at the front door.

As has been said before; if shooting down a Russian fighter jet, the very definition of an act of war, doesn't trigger a conflict, then a crazed gunman shouldn't.

I read a news report claiming it was a disgruntled Star Wars fan. Unhappy with Rogue One he shouted "Admiral Ackbar" before opening fire.
