I didn't like it when she turned into a dolphin in the final episode.

    Would not recommend.

IMDB ratings are generally good and a few in the Netflix recommendations thread seem to like it. Will definitely be checking it out in the new year...

@the-cozen-show Sent out to die? Respectfully, wtf are you talking about? Recently Netflix has had many of the biggest hits in television with Originals, a lot of which are quality too, so how exactly is that being sent out to die?

Even if this show is bobbins, the first episode at least showed flashes of huge imagination and intelligence, this could never and would never exist on standard US tv, so I'm happy it exists at all with all it's weirdness. In short, Netflix have balls with their programming.

But partly because they've only got their customers to worry about.

@BinaryBob101 rushed out to very little fanfare, no pre-release promos, etc. netflix usually puts quite a lot of PR oomph behind its originals. this got what? a trailer the week of release? suggests to me they've paid for this, realised they've got something they don't quite have a handle on and are just going to let it go its own low-key way, let word of mouth maybe help it find an audience along the line. or maybe they realise it's a turkey and are trying to manage ppl's expectations accordingly

@Syrette Which I think we can all agree is a GOOD THING.

That said, if they wanted to only keep customers happy then they could probably get away with commissioning generic crowd pleasing LCD stuff. Stranger Things was really a huge risk if you think about it and it shows that TPTB there nurture new talent too, I think it's to be commended.

cozen, so you've watched the whole thing then?

We started watching it yesterday and just have the last episode to go after dinner.

I really like it. It's very much of the 'visual novel' oerve with your imagination filling in the blanks in what is quite a dense, layered tale.

@BinaryBob101 I've watched all eight episodes. lord help me

A critical number of friends have now started raving about this so I guess I'm going to give it a go after finishing Man in the High Castle s2.

Been watching this most of the weekend. Brilliant series that really drags you in and keeps you watching as the many layers of the story unwind.

Watched first episode last night, really enjoyed it. Bit mental, but could be really good I'm hoping.

Cool. Yeah I'm not unconvinced it won't shit itself up the wall down the line, but it's definitely intriguing.

I'm two or three episodes in and it's all very well made and everything but frankly I'm getting kind of bored. If it's all just an "is there an afterlife, and if so what is its nature and how do we get there?" thing then, meh. If it's something else then boy they're taking their sweet time getting there.

No spoilers. Haha :D final 15 minutes had me almost pissing myself with laughter. I get the symbolism, I get what is being conveyed but the way in which it was done was fucking hilarious.

    I'm two episodes in.

The girl who looks like she was in Stardust meets boy who looks like he was in Star Trek, they get together with some people one of whom looks like he was in Stranger Things and she tells them about some man who looks like he should be Leonardo DiCaprio, while some other man who actually was in The Walking Dead looks on horrified.

It introduces lots of plot elements, some of which will probably never be explained and if they are it'll be a huge let down. Sort of like Lost, but without the gorgeous girl.

    I like it.

Watched the first episode. That kid nailing his girlfriend kind of came out of nowhere.

    Would watch again.

This was borderline about to lose me, despite being lovingly shot. It was just getting a touch too airy fairy and ethereal, afterlife shenanigans etc. But I stuck with it to the actual experiments, and when that dude came back with the third movement, I actually leaked a little water out of my eye. Really very good. Not at all what I would normally watch and totally unexpected in every way, and all the better for it.

Nothing remotely like Lost, for anyone who's yet to see it who might be lurking, but I see where you're coming from.

Okay I finished it. What the hell was that?

While it certainly looks like they ripped off The Usual Suspects with the books supplying her with material to tell her fake story, why did the show cut away to a meeting between the two scientists without any captives present? Did she make up all of that too?

She couldn't have known what happened between them, and he didn't tell her anything, so it makes no sense in the logic of the story she's telling that she had any details at all to conjure up that meeting for the benefit of her listeners.

So I'm left feeling that it wasn't all a story.

You must be from a hitherto unknown dimension where "sent to die" is defined by "splashed all over the front page of Netflix, top of the recommendations, newly added and trending lists, with netflix's twitter account promoting it with cryptic tweets the week before release, and every netflix-focussed website or blog talking about it in the week leading up to and following its release".

Yeah, sent out to die lol.
