    It's pretty funny that Hughie in the comic was based on Simon Pegg and he plays his dad in the TV series. Apparently the artist never asked for permission.

    @askew

    Is it 4k? I can't be bothered with stuff that isn't 4k especially if I've seen it in IMAX already.

    Really? Simon Pegg wrote a foreword for the trade paperback, so I guess it wasn't a big issue.

    Yeah, apparently he's a big comic book fan so he didn't make a big deal about it.

    Isn't Spaced a bit of a divisive topic around here? Season 1 is fantastic IMO

    One of my favourite shows of all time. I especially loved on DVD they had the homage-o-meter which would flash up the name of the movie etc they stole a line from.

    Nothing else by him has lived up to Spaced. It's of its time but utterly brilliant imo

    Yeah. I was 20 and just moving to london at the time, living in a shared house. It is perfectly aimed at me.

    Watching The Boys now. It took me a while to realise the the main superhero guy is the dude from Banshee. It's good to see he's still working!

    Great series so far, btw.

    I knew I'd seen him before. Wow, Banshee, that was a program. Really enjoying the Boys, prefer it to the comics.

    Based on. You wouldn't need to ask permission.

    In the Wanted comic the main characters are based on Eminem and Halle Berry. In the Ultimate Marvel line, Nick Fury is based on Sam L Jackson.

    @Derblington

    It's his likeness. It's not based on him. It is him.

    Could I make a comic with the likeness of Harry Kane but the character is serial killer who loves horses and Spurs? I doubt it.

    My only issue with Simon Pegg in it, is that he doesn't look all that much older than the main character. Maybe he got someone pregnant when he was 10?

    @Mola_Ram

    Pegg is 49, Jack Quaid is 27.

    Well, he still doesn't look like the guy's dad imo. Jack Quaid looks older than that, and Pegg looks younger.

    But it's a small niggle, nothing major.

    Karl Urban's bizarre accent is bit more of an issue. It doesn't bother me because it's so hilariously rubbish I think it must be intentional.

    Not on the same level as The Boys, but started Sneaky Pete last night and it's decent so far, although how someone can get away with such a brazen subterfuge is a bold premise.

    Yeah, I don't know why he didn't just speak with the natural Kiwi accent. Or something close to it, like Australian. It's not like it really matters where Butcher comes from.

    It's based on him, you said it yourself in the first post. I gave you two other examples of where this exists but there are many more. You don't need to ask for permission to base characters on likenesses. The proof of this is that they didn't ask and did it anyway, in all the examples given.

    If someone really took offence to it and wanted to cause a stink, sure, there could be repercussions down the line but that doesn't change the starting point.

    Is it my imagination or does Homelander want to kill that baby?

    I just watched episode 5 and the similarity of Homelander at that rally to Public Spirit (in Marshall Law) really started to irk me a bit.

    I've never read the comics, am I being oversensitive or is this really rippy of Pat Mills and Marshall Law?
