FORUM AWARDS 2016 So, 2016. Yeah. That was certainly a year that happened. To paraphrase Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the year 2016 was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. Many beloved celebrities died, many poor decisions were made, many other things happened. What managed to remain good was the fine people of Eurogamer. You've managed to keep your posting to the same standards as ever. The hilarious people tried to up their game (which isn't hard given the amount of material 2016 politics provided), the stupid people managed to outdo themselves, and the regulars that delete their accounts then return for more punishment on a regular basis have kept it up. In a crazy world that may or may not demolish itself in a shower of fire and misguided ideas, Eurogamer is the place you can go that'll be the same now as it was many moon ago .gif) Such things must be rewards in a serious, important and notable manner. But that'll never happen, so you can have these awards instead. By popular demand! Well, some demand. Almost no demand. Whoa. Where were you last year, prick? Huh? I took a bit of a break last year because I wasn't up to it for boring reasons, so the wildly talented richarddavies stepped in to take up the slack. He took up the mantle and performed the duty with distinction and honour. I'm up for it again though, and think we could all do with a bit cheering up by thinking about the positive things fellow forumites bring to Eurogamer. I think you were a bit strong there calling me a prick though. I'm you, prick. That is true. So lets move on. Yeah, you better move on. Tell them about the prizes. The wonderful prizes! Righto, imaginary buddy! There are none. There are no prizes. I don't think you'll even get shiny username things to indicate you won things. Maybe the powers that be will see to it (as well as striping me of Friendliest Forumite because I just called someone a prick) or maybe they won't. There's no stuff though, probably. None the less, here are the categories this year: Forum Golden Awards 2016 Categories Best Overall EG Forumite - This award is for someone who is really good at being a poster, but not in any specific way. An all-round good poster that might not necessarily have you doubled over laughing or impressed with their logical reasoning, but is pretty good at all the things. Funniest Forumite - This award is for the forumite that makes you laugh the most. I should also make it clear I mean intentionally, so it's not for people so frighteningly stupid it ends up hilarious. Funny people with funny posts should get your funny votes. Friendliest Forumite – Sticking with the alluringly alliterative award introduced in 2014, this award is for nice, friendly people that buck the trend of relentless negativity and manage to somehow remain nice and friendly to the point if you met them in real life, you'd not immediately punch them in the face. Or you would, but you'd apologise then not do it a second time. Most Generous – Some EGers give stuff away. A lot of stuff. A lot of stuff to a lot of people. Such generosity is rarely down for any sort of reward outside the common courtesy of a thank you, but if you want to reward anyone in particular then vote away. If others agree then they shall be rewarded with the knowledge more than one person agreed that they were a generous person. Thread of the Year - This is for the best thread of the year, genius. As usual, in order to qualify it has to be a thread in the main forum (so no group threads), either created in 2016 or with a notable amount of posts in 2016. If you're wondering how much notable is, "Notable is Notable". Group of the Year - Does anyone actually use groups any more? I think they must do. In a slight change from previous years, I've made this Group of the Year as I don't think I should be sharing the names of threads that are hidden away in groups. Groups are groups for a reason. So if you do have a favourite group thread, nominate the group it's in. I'm sure there are all sorts of lovely weird and wonderful groups still in use. This is for a Eurogamer Groups, not one elsewhere. Best Eurogamer Moderator – If you're wondering why the 2016 Awards are a little late this year, just know it's definitely not because I tried to start a bidding war between the Mods to rig this award, with the best offering being a poorly preserved pigeon corpse (collection only). There are plenty of active, excellent Mods on EG charged with smashing spam, stealth-killing socks (second user accounts, not the items of clothing), wrecking racists (which got more challenging in 2016 for some reason) and deleting the undesirables. If you have a favourite please do vote as this is always very close. Only votes for Mods active during 2016 will be counted. Forum Onyx Awards 2016 Categories Please note these are supposed to be in good fun so don’t get too harsh about them. If you're not happy about the prospect of winning one of them, perhaps try not having any of them apply to you  The Unofficial Stephen's (Silliest) Sausage Roll Award - This isn’t necessarily for a forumite you don’t think is smart, but rather for the forumite who made a rather silly mistake that is notable and possibly a source of great humour. For single events, posts or strings of posts from a member that is worthy of noting for the ages. Please try and keep it to silly posts made in 2016. The Trump Award for Excessive Hot Air Award– For a forumite that can post a whole pages worth of information when a simple sentence would’ve done. It’s not necessarily a negative. Maybe you find their immense, scroll-wheel straining mega-posts fun to read. Or maybe you’d prefer they figured out how to be more concise, like you wish this post had been. At least they’ll have an award to their name though. If you win this, PLEASE DON’T EMOQUIT. It’s just bants! I just copied and pasted this one from last time because why make up new words? And I'm lazy. Person Who I Just Want to Go Away and Never Come Back - Want someone to go away and never come back to EG? You don't even have to say why, and it's not like it's binding. If you want someone to just go for reasons other than stupidity or overly long posts, vote for them here. Maybe they'll take the hint, or maybe they'll blame me for having added this as a category.
