Yes, it's called that because it isn't a console. Anyone suggesting otherwise is talking nonce sense -

Registered 19 years agoI'll definitely be getting one, but I'll wait until the release of Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem or Dragon Quest XI. I have a bit of a backlog to attend to before I jump in, but any of those games will weaken me. -
Right now, I'm feeling kinda emotional too, about all this and everything surrounding it, you guys should know I'm actually non female and id like a Switch, but sadly don't have the mony -

Registered 14 years agoI really can't wait. It's a dead cert to have some of the top games of the next few years, it looks like a great bit of kit, and despite the moaning, prices will normalise. -

I flip flopped on the pre-order but finally went for one from TGC? It may be a lame duck but, not having owned a WiiU, I'm just going to enjoy it for what it is and get value out of it playing catch up.
Really looking forward to Disgaea 5 and the DQ titles. -

Registered 18 years agoI am going to buy a Switch at launch and I make no apologies.
It will be my second home console, alongside my PS4 and it will be my second portable device, alongside the IPad. I don't care if it has too few games - I will play games on the other platforms when I run out of Switch stuff. And I won't use it for online multiplayer, so I don't care about that service being crappy (nor will I buy stupidly overprices ports like the Binding of Isaac one).
My main way of using it will be as a portable console, as I really am enthusiastic about playing real, high quality games on the go, instead of the usual iOS stuff. And I'm on the go about 2 hours a day, so that's a really valid use of it for me.
I'll also be using it for local multiplayer games with my kids in the week-ends. I'm looking forward to introducing Mario Kart to them.
It really feels like a console that was designed specifically for me. Everything that's wrong with it I don't care about and everything that's good about it is something that I've been waiting for. -

Do people really get excited enough about the prospect of a new Animal Crossing to buy a whole new console for it? -

Registered 5 years ago@reviewer People get excited about sequels all the time. Halo, Dark Souls, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Last of Us, GTA all say hi!
And yes, Animal Crossing is a system seller! The 3DS game sold over 10 million copies. That's 1 in every 6 3DS owners buying a copy. That's 2 million more sales than Uncharted 4 and 5 times more sales than any other PS4 game. -

Registered 5 years agoIt's only Wikipedia, but it lists Killzone Shadow Fall as the second highest selling PS4 game at 2.1 million copies. I can't actually find any sources for software sales generally.
Edit - That source is somewhat dated (not that I imagine it has sold anything in the last year or two), but it doesn't look like Sony openly share sales for PS4 games. :/

Registered 9 years agoWhile you're talking sales numbers chaps, has anyone seen PS4Pro console sale numbers?
I think Switch is going to outsell Scorpio, see, what with it being aimed at 4k TVs. Can't find the Pro figures anywhere though, which might give an indication of 4k demand.
Used to be all the rage, sales figure pecker swinging. -

£200 box that plays PS4 games
£350 box that plays PS4 games and some might be a bit prettier if you spend more money on a 4k tv (not that alot of you will know the difference anyway) -

Registered 15 years agoTBH I don't really see the value in comparing Switch to the PS4 Pro or Scorpio. It's apples and oranges. Pro and Scorpio don't have to sell in huge numbers, in fact any sales they do get is just a bonus really as they're probably mostly getting to re-sell to existing customers. They also help to justify a price drop in the core product without devaluing it. It's clever product strategy. -

@reviewer
If Animal Crossing was a launch day title I'd be on it from day one. AC is definitely one of the most popular titles and should be a great fit for the Switch at home/on the move use case. I'm eagerly awaiting even the merest smidgeon of new regarding the Switch version of AC. -

Ok, but you're still in the wrong thread. There's already one for moaning about the Switch, so go there.
