| @Decks Word. I thought Genysis was genuinely one of the worst films I've ever seen. It really tried to be a good, clever film. It was fucking awful. Next to Gravity, I can't remember being so angry at a film. |

Are we all just being kind about Emilia Clarke because she was so obviously miscast? She did a great performance capturing the exact opposite of everything Sarah Connor. -

Registered 17 years agoThere are rumours flying around that one of next years “blockbusters” that’s currently filming is turning out to be an utter shitshow of a mess.
I get the feeling it’s this one although some say it’s the live action remake of Aladin from Guy Richie. -

Registered 12 years agoDark Phoenix is supposed to be awful. Loads of it reshot apparently. This is becoming a big shit thing for Hollywood, they may need to start rethinking the blockbuster game if this carries on. -

Thank god the Terminator was sent back in time to fight the patriarch.
Wait, if I like her boobs does that mean I am part of the patriarch?

Registered 17 years agoJames Cameron has been spilling the beans a little now he's doing publicity for Alita: Battle Angel.
Working title is Terminator: Dark Fate and Arnie's playing a new model number. And he's bad. Also meant to be very different.
With Cameron as producer, I hope they're going to put a lot of money into it. I want to get blown away with the effects because I doubt the story will be up too much. -

Registered 6 years agoHow many explosions we think? Bet there's at least 20? And I reckon around 30 special effects. And they will be special if Cameron's history is anything to go by. -

Registered 12 years agoDoes anybody get blown away by FX these days though? I dunno, we're never gonna have another Matrix/Jurassic Park/T2 moment again.
Just effects innit. I'd prefer a decent story, script and characters, something that's been lacking since T2.
Dark Fate sound like some appalling spin-off novel/fanfic.

Registered 6 years agoYeah but if you have lots of special effects it can be pretty impressive. I saw one film with I'd say at least 35 special effects. It had a whale in it and everything. -

I honestly thought the effects in Alita: Battle Angel on 3D IMAX were on a par.

I'll be interested to see how this film deals with the predicament at the end of T2 - with Judgement Day being averted with Dyson's death, the destruction of all the Terminators.
T3 onwards, is going to be non-canon, so why are there still Terminators being sent back?
T3 just said 'it's inevitable' and didn't really explain why. I wonder what it will be this time? -

Registered 6 years agoI hope they just keep it simple. All of the convoluted time travel shit is awful.
Just give me the Justin Bieber girl and a puffy faced Sarah Connor running away from a bloated and decrepit Arnold Schwarzenegger for 240 minutes. Bonafide classic. -
It makes a certain sense up until the third one (which to its credit didn't really care about explaining it all).
Genysysysy being the extreme. I had no idea what was going on or why anything was happening.
So I agree basically, keep it simple. -

Registered 6 years agoYou would hope it would be on par with 20-30 year old films. The point he was making is we'll never see another film that moves special effects forward in the way they did. -
I think we have. Avatar was incredible, the Apes trilogy also incredible. Alita... Incredible.
All done by Weta, mind.
It's true that there is a lot more quality effects work than ever before - we even see it in TV series these days - but the wow factor is still there. -

Ah, understand now. Yep, I really do think Alita has moved effects forward the same way these films did.
