It's nice that they're ignoring all of the timeline fuckery (though I did kind of admire Genisys for doubling down on it), but how is Ahnuld still in it if he melted at the end of T2?

I guess maybe they sent another one back? Or the guy in the woods is not a terminator at all, just the guy they modelled it after?

It's been shown in various media, the SCC show at least, that once a Terminator completes its mission it goes to a safe place and into rest mode until XYZ year to rejoin the others.
It's funny, because my only knowledge of what a Terminator does after it has completed its mission is T2; it self-terminates.

It's an underwhelming trailer.. why wont they give us more of the future war footage, that's what a lot of fans want to see?
    Not that hard, is it?
    Make a Trilogy that's
Movie 1: Set right during Judgement Day, much like an apocalyptic horror movie
    Movie 2: Future War
Movie 3: Future war ends with time travel to connect to T1 and T2.

@beastmaster I heard it was X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Though with such similar names, it could be either....or both.

These Terminators that are sent back to kill always somehow manage to make it incredibly hard for themselves. It's never a quick head shot before anyone notices them. It's always got to involve stabby weapons and jumping from vehicle to vehicle. From jet to jet by the looks of it in this one.

Exactly what I thought. Its going to be a copout. Although saying that they wont be able to resist having a badass negger in there somewhere surely.

I think it's been rumoured for a while that Arnie is human.

I believe there was a story going around a few years ago with a survivalist theme set in the 1940s/50s where Arnie is an old man who protects Sarah's mum from a Terminator out in the US forests.

    I am not joking.

I always thought the T800's did age.

I can't be 100% but I thought there was a line about the living tissue in either the first or T2.

Exactly, opening scene is John Connor sitting on a bench, drinking a soda. Then he gets hit by a sniper bullet from a mile away. The end.

I'd like to remember people of this scene that might clear up the confusion:

    Though that's never been canon...

Was that ever in the actual script or was it the crew just messing around for the day?

It was in the deleted scenes section...
I think it was supposed to be in...

But then in their infinite wisdom they cut this in order to keep the sunglasses gag...

Set 27 years after T2. Is that when T2 was released?

And Sarah Conner is a Terminator hunter. Hence the choice of music on the teaser. Shes figured out a way to find out when and where they are going to appear and blows the fuck out of them.

I think Cameron has already taking on that Genesys bollocks about Terminator's aging.
Also his credited name in the script is "T-800" and some behind-the-scenes shots already show him with some of his exoskeleton metal exposed.

    Hmmm.

See that just opens up a whole can of worms, as it's obviously not the T1 or T2 T-800 as both were destroyed, and there's much more advanced Terminators even by the 90s, so why is there an 80s era T-800 chilling in a countryside cabin for forty years?

No doubt it'll be explained away somehow but I hate these post-rationalised explanations around forcing Arnie into the film.

The current theory is that at some point between T2 and now another T800 came back and was successful at killing John Connor (hence why he isnt in the film aside from flashbacks), and that Sarah Connor disabled and hacked him to learn knowledge of the future, which is why she knows when and where the new Terminators show up.

How do you hack a Terminator? Did skynet use really crappy passwords? Does arnie even have an rj45?

I hope it goes further and Arnie was sent to the seventies to kill some unnamed person who would have in turn run over Miles Dyson in an accident or something.
After completing his mission he just retired to the woods unaware that John Connor was now the new target...

Doesn't he play a human briefly in T3?
