I really liked this. Though I do wonder where they're going to take it, particularly with the presumably limited special effects budget they have. Properly representing what the comics Legion is capable of would be... expensive.

So yeah, I imagine they'll be going with the "omg is this real or all in his mind?" thing for a while longer. It was an amazing-looking pilot all the same though!

Just watched the first episode. Even knowing his comic book origins I am still unsure what I have seen.

Starjammers next maybe? We got Havoc and Cyke might as well add their dad to the mix maybe to stop their 3rd brother :p with his son meant to be in Deadpool 2 :p

Taking the X-Men into space, via the Star Jammers, Shi'ar and, possibly, the Brood would be an interesting direction to take the series in. Though it might invite comparisons with the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Infinity War storyline building in the MCU. I'd like them to go elsewhere.

But the last film finished with a reference to, contains a slight spoiler to X-Men : Apocalypse, Jean Grey and the Phoenix. It was quite clumsily handled, but would tie in with the Starjammers turning up as part of a bigger storyline.

Not really a spoiler lol she always does look at the last version :S If they did the (uncanny X-men)Cartoon story line would be better.

Just trying to be polite in case someone hasn't seen the film yet.

Its just overdone is all every thing Jean is in she turns :p

But look at all Fox has to work with and they just use X-men.

    X-factor
    X-Force
    Excalibur
    Alpha Flight
Forgot the guys name who battles Mojo and Spiral

And that's just the ones I know :p

Oh there is a lot that they can do. They have such a vast resource to draw on. Alpha Flight could be an interesting area to explore. America and Canada haven't seen eye to eye on a few things in the real world. An Alpha Flight story could be an interesting way to comment on that.

Isn't the problem with Fox doing more X-Men TV shows that they don't actually have the right to do so necessarily? I know they've had to work with Marvel to be able to do this one but not sure exactly why that was, could perhaps just be a budget thing?

Anyway, I just watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. I'm not really sure how the rest of the season will go so I worry it could end up being awful but it's definitely off to a strong start.

The 70s stuff all seemed ultimately a bit unnecessarily weird but the rest was good enough to give the series a chance. Noah Hawley is very good so I'm expecting it to be good.

Really enjoyed it, but found it bloody confusing. No idea what was real or not, and has unfortunately set me up to now expect *everything* to be in his head, which is a tiresome twist these days. Can anyone give me some clues as to how to tell what's actually happening and what will later be revealed to have been a hallucination?

Well since they all dressed up in the same color as him it wasn't that hard.

Freaked my children out by pointing out that, in the sister's basement after Lenny disappears, you can still see her in mirror on the left of frame, on the floor.

    More WTFFFFF?!?

I need to watch that again as my concentration was wavering throughout. It honestly makes a refreshing change to need to turn your brain on for genre stuff like this. Episode one definitely benefited from another watch.

Yeah, there's some very disturbing stuff going on in here. Family superheroics this is not.

Can we please have a spoiler rule for comics too, a la the Game of Thrones thread? Although Hawley says this is only inspired by the comics and it's his own story, that could be a red herring.

Maybe have a comic wanker thread running too if this gets very successful?

Watched the second one last night and enjoyed it a lot. Someone needs to sack the hair and makeup guy though, it looks like they're all wearing wigs.

Enjoying it but Stevens is starting to grate a bit. He seems to be doing a weird impression of Woody Allen after a head trauma.

Watched the first one last night, it was a fucking mess I thought. And yet I watched through it but it was hard work, hoping it will get a bit easier to follow or I'll possibly ditch it. The daughter/sister from Fargo (the girlfriend in this) is crazy cute though so I may stick around a bit longer.

I wasn't paying attention at the start and I'm kind of drunk but I literally have no fucking clue what's going on in the latest episode.

Yeah it was a bit confusing.

I think David was unconscious after being drugged last episode and in a dream world with another mutant who was frozen.

And it appears the imaginary friend / second personality of the MRI scan doctor became corporeal.

Absolutely loving this show. The way it can switch between genres so effortlessly is truly brilliant.

I fully recommend watching this. It's trippy as balls, sure, but the characters are figuring things out as the viewer is, which makes it managable.

As much as I've been enjoying the fresh cinematic approach of this show so far, the narrative itself is getting a tad too "tropey" for its own good.

Here's to hoping the ending of the latest episode isn't indicative of the writing quality from hereon out.

I mean, "all the characters are patients in a mental clinic" quasi-reveal/ red-herring stuff.

    Please.

Edit: Yeah I'm not expecting Tarkovsky levels of depth from an X-men show. I just wanted to roll my eyes a little less than the show allows- especially as it started out so strong.
