Hmm, watched the trailer for LA Noire - a game I bought and never finished on PS3 - on the front page and suddenly I'm really tempted.

I think i have some sort of Switch related mental illness. But imagine if it was Red Dead Redemption!

I really enjoyed LA Noore and couldnít quite understand why it wasnít a bigger hit. The setting and that gorgeous facial animation well and truly won me over. I think I Platinumíd it but, if it isnít stupidly priced I might buy it again too.

Ah, thatís too much for a reheated old game to me. Worth it if you never played through the original though.

Jesus it's £45 on the e-shop, for some reason I thought it was going to be £30.

In unrelated news, maybe I'm just getting old but did anybody else think that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks insanely fucking complicated?

    @neems

The first one seemed complicated at first but actually you didnít have to worry about half of it to get through the game.

Just a heads-up for anyone getting LA Noire. It seems an SD card is required if you get it digitally and a hefty download is required if you get the cart version.

LA noire is massively overrated. I'd never want to play it again, mostly dull experience. Feel it gets a pass because Rockstar.

Yeah, youíre right- I ignored the interesting setting, the great motion capture and facial animation and the Black Dahlia/gumshoe style stories because I was blinded by the Rockstar logo.

Do you agree that it didn't need to be open world?

It wasn't really open world though. It had an open world, but it was still a linear game. Like the original Mafia.

I didn't like it either. Still I can't remember much about it. Maybe I didn't give it long enough.

I really enjoyed it, but I don't really need to play it again. I would recommend it to anyone who missed out the first time round.

@BigOrkWaaagh Yeah, it is a cool, very unique game, and very atmospheric. Not without its faults, but a no-brainer if you've never played it.

Oh FFS! Over Doom (played first half on PS4 then traded it) and Skyrim (never played it)?

    Does this appeal to you?

Do you like L.A. Confidential? :)

Yeah that looks cool, and I do like LA Confidential. Think Skyrim might still be the old game I need to play though. Will wait on reviews for both I guess (though I suppose they're not going to tell us much that we don't know).

LA Noire is good for people who like those sorts of american cop shows.

    I enjoyed it.

    Batman out next week too.

Really interested in this one, as long as they've managed to port the engine better than it generally works on iOS.

probably leave it till next year tho, with rabbids coming and xenoblade soon too.

Yeah, Iíve been thinking that too. Im hoping the mess that is the UI makes it look more confusing than it is.

I didn't like XC2. It's just not my cup of tea at all unfortunately.

The Xenoblade games are unnecessarily more complicated than they need to be, but you don't need to understand everything to get any enjoyment out of them. Those games are huge time sinks and as you become more comfortable with the basics of combat, you naturally start to explore and digest the more complex tactics. Its something you can learn at your own pace, too.

It means as you progress through the game your play style evolves and you uncover this extra layer of depth that keeps things interesting as you clock up the hours.

I'd personally recommend playing the original if you're unsure. Its an absolute classic and it eases you into the combat system nicely. It also has an epic world and one of the best soundtracks ever. Its much better than Xenoblade Chronicles X.
