Baby Driver - Edgar Wright

  • Deleted user 12 March 2017 12:06:20
the trailer for Edar Wright's new film is out

I don't have any strong feelings for it. Plot sounds very generic, so the film will live or die on the style and small details. Wright tends to use music well in his films, so it might be cool. Seems less comedic than some of his earlier films.

I just think the title is shit. "Baby Driver" sounds like an Adam Sandler film about a taxi driver who gets turned into a baby by a gipsy. A baby driver.

I'm not sold on it from the trailer but Ive enjoyed the majority of his films so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt for now. Even if it does sound exactly like it could be that Adam Sandler film you just invented.

I predict lots of whip pans and sound effects, and a paper thin plot.

Apparently just about everything is synced to the music

I don't think I've ever truly disliked an Edgar Wright movie, so I'm sure it'll be at least watchable.
But that trailer didn't do a lot for me. Action looks good, the lead looks kinda annoying though.

I don't know I think it looks stylish as fuck, I've got a massive soft spot for Wright, I don't think he gets enough credit. I still wonder what his Ant Man would have turned out like.

Reviewed really well but feel Sony have sent it to die by moving the release

Yeah, I don't think this film is suited for a summer release.

Definitely worth a watch, although it does suffer from the ol' going to see a movie after it gets rave reviews syndrome.

Super stylish and I'm sure it'll get better with every watch on film four for years to come!

Solid 8/10 from me. The car chase scenes are great. Baby was very engaging. I found Jamie Foxxxxxx miscast

    The soundtrack is wonderful

I just can't see this title without thinking it's like Baby's Day Out or Baby Boss, except the baby is a chauffeur or something.
I watched 3 men and a baby the other day as it was on telly

    quality quality film.

Finally saw this, really enjoyed it. I was wrong to slam the plot, I was just deeply bored by that other american film he did a while back about all the boyfriends some guy had to defeat, god that was dull.

But this was really, really good fun. Great music, just the right amount of Edgar Wright directorial flare without it becoming grating, lots of little bits to spot and enjoy. Lovely stuff.

    You didn't like Scott Pilgrim?
That was awesome! It gets 9/10 just for Ramona Flowers.

Nope, didn't like it *at all*. Had no idea what it was going in, and was left utterly cold by it. Not even sure I made it to the end. Might have had a snooze in the end. Really wasn't my bag, hey ho.

Man I love Scott Pilgrim, a very re-watchable cult classic and it had me from the Zelda music in the opening shot. This was the first ‘adult’ film me and my lad agreed on as being great. Funny enough he’s not really into films but we went to watch Baby Driver together and both both loved it.

I gather it was a comic originally? I can see it making more sense as a comic. It was just a bit daft and meh to me. Some whiny kid fancies a girl and then there's all these silly imaginary game-ified fights with other guys that are into her? That's all I really remember.

Watched this today, didn't know what to expect. It is a musical, although obviously not. It totally flows and is full of rhythm.
I loved it, good cast overall. It is rather strange watching KS in a film now.
A very solid 9/10 from me.

Thought this was great, would happily watch it again which equals 11/10 for my rating system

It's a shame Spacey is a sex pest, he's a pretty good actor.

I can separate the performer from the performance fairly easily though, so I've no qualms watching this.

So was this his last released film. He wasn't bad in it (as always) but we have to wonder how close these sleezeball roles he played a few times are to the real spacey.

A bit like when someone tops themselves and everyone claims they “could see a sadness in their eyes”
