    Eh this thread will do.

    We know and remember Stuart Campbell yes? Well he's been arrested.

    @Mfolf

    Yup. And was an utter arsehole. A serial troll being arrested for mallicious excommunication. Who'd have thought.

    Oh blimey - didn't realise he'd frequented E.G. forums. He's quite the high profile arsehole.

    I bet nothing comes of this.

    Campbell can be a total arse at times, but he is absolutely amazing at picking apart anti-Indy stories in the press and showing them up as the lies and fabrications they are - and backs it up with full referencing. Many in the Unionist side are desperate to shut him up, or at least to discredit him. Hence the frankly silly homophobia accusation from Kezia Dugdale. The comment about Mundell was crass and intentionally offensive, but hardly homophobic. Dugdale's aim was to try to force him to take the site down.

    No idea what is behind this story - but it won't surprise me in the slightest if there are lots of shrieky headlines about him being arrested, and then deafening silence when the charges are dropped later. One of the stories he has been running with recently is that of the former SNP MP Michelle Thomson, who was questioned in an investigation but no charges were brought. This was reported as 'case dropped' by all of the major papers and the BBC, until Campbell pointed out there never was a case made against her, and all but the BBC altered their headlines.

    Moved to Bath in 1991, so never lived in Scotland after devolution. He didn't really go down well here (EG) IIRC.

    He's a really divisive figure - no doubt about it. He's a real needle in the flesh of the Scottish MSM and the anti-Indy parties though, and for that alone I'll give him a pass. I don't agree with his approach all the time but he makes valid points.

    Edit: regarding his living in Bath - what does it matter? I moved away from Scotland in 2003 for work reasons (and never made it back despite wanting to) and I didn't surrender my political stance at the border...

    He seems lovely

    I can never decide what's my favourite thing about my once-a-year visit to the EG forum. Is it (a) the SPECTACULAR INSTANT VOLCANIC HATESPEW! guaranteed to erupt within 90 seconds whereby an incredible outpouring of foaming-mouthed titwads shriek themselves purple calling me a paedophile (yeah, it's a real mystery I don't contribute more), or is it (b) the hundreds and hundreds of hits that come in over the next 10 minutes from people who clearly are interested in reading the story, but don't bother saying so because they'll just get jumped all over by a bunch of adolescent window-lickers?

    It's a toughie. See you next year!
