I didn't have a NES, but I did have a SNES, and absolutely loved it. But I also loved the PS and PS2. And the dreamcast. And the spectrum and c64 before the Amiga. I've actually used the "nintendo games are generally more fun" comment myself, I admit. And I agree that's a bit of a stupid thing to say. Maybe it's just an age thing - if people started slagging off the spectrum and the c64, I'd probably think, "you have no idea - they were awesome", because at the time, they were. At least for me anyway. I'm trying to put myself in the position of a younger person who's earliest gaming experience was a PS3 for example. |

Yeah, that Horizon game is seriously ugly. Good point. -

Don't even start. The upshot of all that has been us playing our own games on separate profiles, except I have to do huge amount of the game for him, so I'm now effectively playing it twice more having already played so much of it once already.
Yep, now you're just losing progress

Good thing it's an absorbing game. I've put at least 20 hours into the Wii U version, but I've got a possible business trip coming up and am seriously considering selling the Wii U and getting a Switch with Zelda.

I though it was the Nintendo fans that were over-sensitive

One thing I was thinking recently - would it kill them to add achievements? Whether you think they're lame or not, they're industry proven to be hugely successful, and they'd have an obvious alternative in gold stars/shines.
It's just utterly bizarre decisions, one after another year in year out. Sony, Microft, steam obviously have their fair share of them, but nowhere near the same frequency.

Registered 16 years ago@Yakyakyo Of all the things I would criticise Nintendo for (and believe me, they are many and varied), I'm not sure I'd include a lack of achievements on that list. In some games, achievements are fun and can extend replay value. But there are plenty of cases where they can be irritating, disruptive or immersion breaking. Ever have an achievement pop-up in the middle of an intense story scene (particularly a snarkily-named fourth-wall-breaking achievement)? -
You can turn them off. And of course one reason not to do that is it would be harder sell the same games each generation.

Been done, right? -
I dont hate them but they always seem to make stupid decisions. Look at the switch a cheap plastic screen its own dock can scratch, a different inferior antenna type in one controller but not the other. Launching it with one game worth owning and charging an absolute premium for accessories. Then theres having the online chat being handled via a phone app, wtf. -

Feels as though we've made a real difference today with this thread, good work guys -
I've come to the conclusion from this thread that I miss SEGA. Mega Drive was for grown up kids, and Nintendo for babies. -

Registered 11 years agoLook at the banner on the front page. First item is
"Why Nintendo Switch games are more expensive".
I don't remember a PS4 banner with
"Why the Dual Shock analog sticks turn to smeg".
or an Xbox One banner
"Why the Xbox install times are so chuffing long".

Registered 5 years agoIts a bit weird, Nintendo's stance on YouTube. On the one hand I see where they're coming from. There's a lot of people who expect to make money from playing games and talking about them in such a way that they could pass off as being CBeebies presenters buzzing on Red Bull. A lot of it lacks any real value or effort and there's a great sense of entitlement from some of them. Who'd want people making money from your hard work like that?
On the other hand, nearly all of these YouTube presenters are aimed at kids, hence all the paid for opinions and jokes about Nazis and autism, so is technically the same target Nintendo are often lumped with, so Nintendo should in theory fit in quite nicely.
Have you seen the Cat Mario Show on the eShop? Its practically a carbon copy of the Angry Joe Show. Just with cats. -
I like cats. I love Peach in fur. Angry Joe can do one, Cat Mario Show ftw! -
Hasn't the title of this thread been fixed yet? Poor show Eurogamer mods, poor show.
The Reasonable and Entirely Justified Hatred of Nintendo [Serious]
But where would I be without the endless amusement Nintendo fans give me? Recently descending into a shit flinging frenzy over Breath of the Wild getting a 7/10 that damaged it's Metacritic score and consequently has damaged the reputation of the Nintendo Switch! Infamy!
Practically breaking down in tears over the prospect of people playing Breath of the Wild on a PC this week.
You can't have your Zelda pudding if you don't eat your crappy Nintendo hardware vegetables.
