Downloading Music

So, I've hit a problem. At 26 I feel outdated in technology.

Being the age I am, I grew up illegally downloading music through Limewire, Utorrent, ect. This worked wonders, easy to get straight away. But as I became an adult with a decent salary I liked buying albums to support the artists, this too was going well. Until I brought Ed Sheerans album 2 weeks ago and realised my new car doesn't have a CD player, which apparently are now outdated.

I proceeded that evening to spend 45minutes trying to work out how to get the album onto my laptop and then onto my phone, before I gave up and turned to the dark ways of illegal downloading again. Within 5 minutes I downloaded Utorrent on my phone, visited proxybay and had it playing on my phone. 5 minutes!

Since then I've downloadeds a couple more as it's so ridiculously easy. However, I'm sure there must be a Samsung Galexy way to buy music directly on my phone and download it, legitimately. Can anyone advise how I buy music straight to my phone?

I can't use streaming services where I live, rural Northamptonshire can't even maintain DAB radio, let alone constant phone internet. So I'd rather be able to buy music direct to my phone and use it that way.

If you pay for Spotify you can download the music to your phone.

More generally, my brain is still struggling to cope with how popular Ed Sheeran is.

@Decks But like, will it add to play lists with my other music already on my phone? Or will I have to have separate lists for Spotify music and old music?

It'll just be in Spotify. You won't need the other music on your phone though as you'll have unlimited access to everything on Spotify. It's time to move on.

26 is too old and too young to be listening to Ed Sheeran.

Google Play or Amazon Music if you want to go the buying stuff instead of streaming it route. Google also works with stuff already on your phone, ie your dodgy Ed Sheeran collection (who is this guy's main audience ? I really have no clue who buys it, apart from non tech savvy 26 year olds obviously).

@gamecat Cheers buddy! I'm not ready to try this streaming stuff yet. I'm pretty stubborn in letting go of what I know, I still refuse to accept Twitter needs to be a thing.

    Ed Sheerans starting stuff like this;

Ooze's talent and ability, you can't admire the skill.
Admittedly he has gone slightly pop with this latest album...

Amazon Prime is seriously worth considering. It's basically Spotify and Netflix combined, with books and incredible delivery services thrown in as well. It's obviously not as cheap as any of those but as an all in one package it's pretty amazing.

Also, if you buy your physical media from Amazon, they automatically add the rips to your account, so if you bought the Ed Sheeran CD or vinyl from there, you would be able to download the electronic version onto your phone using the Amazon music app.

Which is why i now have An Annie Lennox Christmas and a whole load of other emergency Christmas/birthday present crap attached to my account, nerding up my 'you may like' recommendations.

I mainly use bleep and bandcamp, because they give me 16-bit flac files of what I want and are often cheaper than Amazon. I do check the amazon price, and if the CD is cheaper then just buy that and rip it though. Amazon's free mp3s are nice, but not that useful to me when I can put the flac files on my music server and just transcode them to mp3 at whatever bitrate/format suits as I see fit for specific devices.

I doubt any of that is doable on an android phone fwiw. But you can certainly dump the music files on a card and stuff that into your phone to get music on there.

Nah, totally try hard. The Susan Boyle one was a fuck up though, I suspect..
