The different tiers are something like +1/+2/+3 above your average power level.

That's how I made 962 tonight without doing anything other than grind?! Still don't get it, at all.

    But, always fun.

As a side note, has Gambit become almost impossible to 'complete'? It's a lot harder to kill the thing at the end. 3 out of 4 matches all winners whittled down the (prime) boss, not actually defeating it?

I don't play Gambit, but when I do, I always stick to regular Gambit. Prime is such a pain since it's just the skilled people playing it, and you can bet everyone will have a full invader set to make your life even worse.

@eleven63 How high is your artifact level? Hover the cursor over your power level in the character screen and it should tell you. Perhaps you have +12 from that.

How do I attain such power? Do raids or something? That vex thing?

Just had a catalyst drop, only the second one I've ever had, in a lost sector. I thought these only dropped in strikes. O_o

Shame it wasn't for Huckleberry or Riskrunner.

    @b-rk

Isn't there a new mission for Riskrunner that drops the catalyst right after the gun itself? That's how I got it.

Edit: so it looks like it's Pain and Gain mission picked up from the gunsmith.

@b-rk catalysts drop from different sources, and only from those sources, so you better have a table handy. For example, the Huckleberry catalyst only drops from heroic adventures.

Only exceptions are the old Faction-exclusive catalysts, which can now drop from any enemies.

Aha! Yes, there is a new mission to get the Riskrunner cat, now I have it. ^_^

    Next up, Huckleberry. Cheers, chaps.

Yeah the console versions really struggle with their default laptop hard drives. The menus are really slow to bring up so using a SSD here really improves things.

Huckleberry is TEH BEST. I have it equipped all the time. With the catalyst, the entire magazine is reloaded on a kill. And I believe it's not from reserves, but out of thin air. This weapon makes for crazy fast add clears.

Sources vary on where the catalyst can drop, some say heroic adventures on Mars and Mercury, some claim to have gotten it from a Mars strikeÖ

I have a problem with no adventures showing on the Mars map. Ana isn't offering any, either. :/

    Basically same problem as here

btw will finishing the shadow keep campaign boost the engram power? the highest rated one I have seen is 932. that seems low considering the time i've put in, the battle pass thingy is at 104, so lots of time put in here.

That's weird, my season pass is at 35ish and I'm seeing engrams of that level with 2 characters at that power level. You must be doing activities that dont really benefit you I guess?

Your rank depends on exp obtained (usually from bounties), while your power level depends on activities that give you powerful gear. In theory, one could only play in patrol areas and get tons of bounties in every planet, which would increase their exp fast but keep their power level low.

You'll probably want to finish the campaign, too. Only five missions or so, and you'll open up more sources of powerful gear on the Moon.

Wait until it becomes the Flashpoint destination. It used to be that you could play Mars and Mercury heroic adventures at any time, but I think they removed that with Shadowkeep.

That's still better than how it was in Year 1, when heroic adventures were only available on Mars and Mercury, the difficulty was very high for a solo player, and you could only play each adventure once per week. Getting that catalyst took me a long time and a lot of suffering.

Console performance is utterly dreadful at the moment. Trying to navigate inventory and other menus is really sluggish.

Using a SSD is essential for Destiny 2 because as you said the menus are really sluggish.

    @Malek

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

Final Assault is disappointing. it's exactly the same as Vex Offensive, just with a slightly harder boss.

Overall, I think Season of the Undying has been very much forgettable. A single activity that was always the same, bounties that gave you the same weapons as the activity, and some Vex spawns on the Moon that were pretty pointless.

At least Escalation Protocol, Reckoning and Menagerie had different bosses or challenges on weekly rotation.

For the 'average' player, what am I playing for at the moment? I don't have the skill/understanding to go after pinnacle weapons/whatever - I'm at level 962, my load out, 950.

Haven't touched it in a week, unlike me.

Just feels, all a bit flat...

    Peace.

Yeah I have been the same, I'm not enjoying the weekly tasks as much as I did with forsaken.

Me too, honestly. I think it got boring once I rinsed the season rank to 100. With the power up to 950 and no more rank rewards, I've had nothing to strive for.

The timing with Forsaken was better. It took me longer to reach the power cap, and by the time I did, Season of the Forge had almost arrived. So I had something to do for a longer time. Maybe they messed up by having Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying launch together. They should have kept it for a little later, and made it more enticing too.

Also, used to be that you got a Bright Engram every level (aka 3 per week with the bonus), which was an incentive. Even during slow weeks, I'd at least play long enough to get those three engrams. But now you need five ranks to get one, and the bonus only lasts for those five ranks. Overall, cosmetics collecting has slowed down considerably, which makes it even more pointless to play.

Yeah pretty much the same experience here. I got the Huckleberry catalyst on the sixth Mars adventure run, received a bunch of exotic drops, some of which are pretty good but I'm burned out now. There doesn't seem to be any reason for me to keep playing until the next season starts. Power level at 962, done a bunch of activities I'd rather have left alone to get there, not trying for pinnacle stuff, people rushing through strikes, horde type modes, just burned out on them, too old and tired for that shit.

    /sips tea

    edit

Oh, and Hard Light is my new fave weapon, which is funny because it gets shit on by everyone but for a void walker using Nezarec's Sin, it's top notch.

Got to agree with the general option on Final Assault. Really lazy. I've defended this season as on a whole it has injected new life into the game, but that's a real wet fart of an ending to the Vex Offensive. Hopefully we get something decent to close out the season, but I wouldn't hold my breath after this.

I wouldn't say Shadowkeep counts as the current season. If we just take Season of the Undying by itself, this would be the most disappointing season yet (granted, also the cheapest).
