Soundtrack to this is exemplary. Maybe two or three hours in. Enjoying it but no way should it have been 29.99.

    Is this any good then?
Peaked my interest after watching the GB Quicklook.

It's £11.99 on cdkeys now, reminds me a bit of ico.

I thought it was beautiful and a great Zelda-esque puzzle game. There's no combat as such.

Didn't finish in the end as I'd left it too long and couldn't be arsed to spend ages picking up the thread with other games to play.

    Highly recommended

It's pretty good if you really tired of 100 hour epics. Only took me 7 hours or so to finish and has a lovely aesthetic.

Loved this game. I actually cried at the end. My god the ending is brutal. You see the whole game in a different light.

Shame, sounds hella frustrating to play on the Switch.

“There are multiple occasions where the camera pans like a slideshow when you jump across ledges.”

Rime is an excellent game, but the Switch version is not worth getting in its current state.

Not surprising, I read it doesn’t run smooth on ps4, so I can imagine the switch having a hard time with it. It would be an amazing game in HDR, lots of play with light and dark.

It would be good to see what people are seeing with regards to before and after the patch that is out.

Its not clear unless anyone can point out to a review/analysis that clearly states which version is in use.

Played a good chunk of this on PS4 and i did see very occasional performance issues, but weirdly in places that you wouldn't expect, like faceless halls. (Perhaps that was where the games was loading up new areas or something). Those issues were noticeable but so fleeting that it didn't bother me at all.

Shame things sound worse on Switch but if they couldn't optimise for PS4, not surprised that Switch is struggling

Anyone played this on the switch yet and have any details about the performance issues noted in the article referenced above.
I seem to recall that this games had a number of issues on multiple platforms...
I’d like to pick it up but I might hold out for a patched version in a few months.

There is a patch already out according to the devs.

Apparently you have to prompt the app to get the patch if you have the physical copy, downloaded copies should have the patch built in but its not clear if this is the case, you may need to get the patch for that also.

However, it's not clear on what the patch does/improves. (hence my comment 3 above)

No one bought this on the switch then? Any feedback? Did you have to force update?

I'm teetering on the brink of a PC purchase for £12. Can't really justify almost thrice that for a Switch version which doesn't run all that well, looks poorer overall, and for an experience that only lasts six or seven hours. At that runtime I'm unlikely to play it on the go as it'll be done in a few sittings.

I'd rather do it in a weekend on PC in super high res and as many bells and whistles as it has.

What a great little game this is. The ending is very moving. I went in not knowing much about it and came away very impressed.

If you are on base PS4 (like me) then it's worth persevering with the occasional frame rate issue, which is at it's worst in the opening section.

I've nearly finished it, and even though it's all very nicely presented, it's also quite boring. It's like Dear Esther with added climbing puzzles, only less compelling than anything from The Chinese Room.

To me, it's like a big Zelda dungeon with no combat. I think if it were any longer it would grate, but I think it's a lovely experience.

Still doesn't sound like it's a great port of the game regardless though. Lower res poorer performance. It's just less of a clusterfuck. :-(

I was tempted to get this on Switch last year, but it's available on PC for £12, and the switch version is £30 at cheapest. Hell, for £38 you could get a 12 month PS+ sub and claim it as one of the 'free' games this month.

My experience with this so far is that it's nice, but neither the platforming or the puzzles are particularly interesting. Also, you can't really explore much because there are invisible barriers everywhere.

The game was more about the atmosphere for me than the mechanics, so I found the puzzles quite pleasant. Never really an obstacle, but also not just busywork. They do get a little more difficult though (if you're at the beginning).

The only thing I didn't like about the game was that is - as short as it is - a bit too long.

No I'm quite far in (I think) and the puzzles are mainly just annoying at this point. I don't hate it, I just feel like it never really got going and now I want it to end.

It's fine for it to not be about the mechanics, but then it should make the mechanics more seamless. It's quite clunky and some of it not that well designed so I'm finding it actually annoying to play.

@HarryPalmer In which level/area are you?

Mind, I do sympathise, seeing I think the later areas in particular dragged on for too long.

@UncleLou I'm at the bit with the big bird menace, think im in the process of blocking out the final patch of sun.

No idea if this is near the end, but feels like it should be!

Here's an extremely nit-picky example, but it sums up my overall feelings:

There's a room with a central platform and another platform separated by water. You need to jump over the water in order to start solving the room's puzzle, but the other platform is just too far away so you always fall into the water and have to climb out to reach it. Meaningless as an isolated incident, but as its a puzzle with some trial and error you'll probably be doing that jump a fair few times, and it becomes very annoying. A better game would make the platform within jumping distance, and you wouldn't think anything of it.

As I say, very nit-picky in isolation but this sort of thing happened throughout the game, where the design actually impeded the fun and flow of the experience.
