They tried to do Usual Suspects with the action sequences of Dark Knight - specifically the Harvey Dent van sequence.

I am actually mortified how badly edited and paced the whole episode was.

I've just realised that the whole saga has parallels with George Lucas and original/ middle Star Wars trilogy.

Feels very much like BBC went "make more of this the first 3 were so good" and nobody had the balls to say "steady on"
    You’re saying they’ve done a Peaky Blinders?

Not quite Game of Thrones crap but it wasn’t a good finale. If this is the end then it really is a shame.

The documentary style text at the end is just so bad. I can’t understand why they keep doing it.

Knew it wasn’t going to be Osborne although that really would have been something special. Having him growling at them and AC-12 cowering in fear.

@brokenkey Fairbank, he has dementia but seemed to admit to going along with Tommy Hunter.

Does seem like they’ve left a few things open for a possible order from the BBC. Wasn’t any text at the end about Hastings appeal, Arnott’s new life in Liverpool, or why Fleming was seeing the shrink ;)

It felt like they needed to tidy up why Buckles had become so senior and that made some sense. But a weaker by the numbers series.

He got to the top because he was the last one to get caught.
Reality is shit and doesn't often have a blockbuster ending.
To me the ending said much the same. Corruption is deep seated. Take out a few bad apples fine, but it tends to go right to the top.
We saw similar things in The Wire. Barksdale crew suffered some setbacks, but the drugs trade continued and Marlo rose towards the top. Freamon wanted to follow the money, but it got too close to Sen. Clay 'Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet' Davis and the powers that be in the police got scared and reined him in.

Still can't get over how bad that was.

Apart from the last minute "The real 4th man is the corruption we made along the way" fortune cookie philosophy wrap up, I've got to give special mentions to them taking up a good 5 or 6 minutes of an hour finale having an identical conversation to last week with a dementia patient. Also, Steve randomly doing Pilates under a bridge and his painkiller addiction and subsequent firearms license removal amounting to absolutely nothing other than a quick scene with him tasering someone.

    It was very, very bad.

Actually think GoT had a better ending. Sure it was disappointing at the time but I can see the logic to it even if the execution was poor. This ending was a complete nonevent.

The GoT ending was a million times better. And that's a comment on Line of Duty, not GoT.

Yeah this shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as GoT or The Wire.

He was weilding normal gun later in that scene.

Maybe there was a scene explaining that one off amongst the 472 cutaways in the first half hour.

Standard videogame practice - pick up better weapons.

The Royal Navy drama trailed at the end looks pretty good.

What I don't get is why is Steve Arnott in it and now he has a Scottish accent. He must be deep undercover.

    Er… because he’s Scottish.
Arnott’s voice is not Compston’s normal voice

    I got the joke.
    No need to explain.

Most people don’t know that Compston’s real voice is as Scottish as you can get.

Are you suggesting it wasn’t shit? Season 1 to 3 of this show were best thing from the BBC in years. It is right it is getting a bit of a hammering for disappearing up it’s own arse since then.

The last 2 episodes were poor imo. Still entertaining, but a bit meh. Door left ajar but the poor dead horse has had enough.

@Youthist It wasn't perfect for sure.
But equally, I'm not a TV script writer so I don't think I could do a better job than Jed Mercurio.

It's not even worthy of arguing about it was that much of a non event.

You can't spend the second half of a 6 season show drumming it into people that you are going after the head of the snake, pivoting with 20 minutes of screen time left to go into some heavy handed metaphor when you've used high drama at every single other turn and expect people not to go "What the fuck was that shit?"

    It was so lame.
