Yep love that too. Don't get me wrong LOD is best bbc drama in years! Just force ranking the 4 series and for me I think I have this last one 4th. 2,1,3,4 if I have a gun to my head.

@Dougs yeah I loved it, pulling zero punches and opening with fireworks.

Best British show around at the moment for me, very confidently written and impeccably acted. Apart from the weird montage round-up bit they do at the end of each series, but I can forgive that.

Took me a while to get into it and I was behind for yonks, but agree - easily the best British drama I've seen in ages.

I do need to check out Happy Valley. From the little I've seen, it does British bleak too well!

Bosch is back this month too. \o/

Shit. Ted made the same typo as the unknown head honcho made previously…

(Unless the production team can't spell)

Yeah I spotted that. Surely a red herring - every cunt spells is wrong.

Also generally this is a season too far on this show. Tying itself in knots and very contrived with very little actual story.

Nah, I think they are doing a good job ringing it back to the original arc.
I just feel so traumatised after each episode.

Hang on - it all tied together with the Caddy and the end of s4. This is tacked on to the natural conclusion of the arc.

The Caddy was just a Caddy. The series arc needs more exploring surely.
Going right to the top, as they say.

Agree that the story could have ended there. There's more to though, Hastings needs to come out.

Too obvious to be Hastings so I'm guessing PCC Rohan Sindwhani wonderfully played by Ace Bhatti

Can't be Hastings. Surely. Far too obvious and besides, if he was, he wouldn't be living in a travel tavern.

Yeah he's getting set up. His RUC backstory is interesting, can't wait to find out more.

Assuming you guys saw this on Sunday?

I found it a bit... meh. At least as a finale.

Felt the same. Not entirely satisfying, but it was still good. I liked the callback to Season 3's ending and how they'd learned their lesson since.

    @Rivuzu

I think the main problem was that the end of the middle episodes were so good, this one felt a bit flat.

Plus making the big reveal Biggeloe seemed like a weak way of throwing out a side-character without having to commit to anything more mind-blowing/series moving

True. I did feel that because BBC had greenlit another series already, this was a hasty re-write to tie it off. Especially the end bit with H.
