| Yes, it's more people giving away their positions - I mean I was doing 90kph at one point and one guy must have unloaded two full magazines into me - it took about 10% of the vans Health and didn't touch me. It's a waste of ammo if nothing else. |

Registered 12 years agoYeah I was just being facetious tbf. Personally I'm never too bothered about giving my position away and I play quite aggressively. Ammo is usually so plentiful I rarely run out.
Shooting people in cars can often be an easy kill too. -

Registered 13 years agoHaven't played much of this lately but I just got some new fangled crate and decided to have a pop and got a skirt of some kind. They usually go for decent cash don't they? I'll have to wait and see how much it's worth on the 1st when I can cash out. -

Registered 18 years agoSo, anyone played the new map?
I had about 3 hours on it tonight and it's pretty good, although I'm a bit colder on it than I expected. Thought dump:
+ new map!! It's very unfinished, such as buildings loads of buildings with grey textures and barely any cover in a lot of places. But fair play releasing something so early. You can see what they're going for, so hopefully when they dress it up some more, it will be very atmospheric.
+ small size - it's 4x4, but really its 3x3 as the water around the edge takes up so much room, but... it feels like 2x2 because death is so near!
+ You are never far from a fight... If you kill someone, expect someone else to arrive on scene pretty quickly to kill you. You REALLY have to keep your wits about you at all times.
+ lots of loot... there are ARs everywhere. Snipers feel more rare. Scopes are pretty common. Vectors are much more useful now! Great when you land and need to clear out some buildings.
+++ Dynamic weather!! Rain is back. It's not as loud, but it's enough to make you think you've heard someone nearby...
+ Very fast zones later on. You have 30 seconds before it starts shrinking again at times. Gotta keep moving.
+ Vehicles are death traps. With so many players nearby, you're basically sounding a horn saying "Come get me!"
+ Performance is very good.
- map feels like a paintballing arena. The lack of textures etc doesn't help, but just look at the actual map. There are buildings everywhere, separated by about 50-100m each. There are very few stretches of land without houses. I assume they've done this so that people have cover to duck into when they get shot at, but I'd rather see stretches of land without buildings, where all you have is terrain as cover. Or, something else other than buildings.
- lots of loot... It's basically an M4-fest. Which is a little dull, even if the frustration of not getting a gun at the beginning is gone.
- load time... Jesus, why is it >= 1 minute in the lobby still? You get 100 players within 30 seconds, easily. When the maps last such little time, it's annoying sitting in the lobby for so long.
- small map - a bit torn on this one. I've been longing for a smaller map and I think I like it, but there's definitely something to be said for the undulating tempo of Erangel. I slightly miss the moments when you've got 2 or 3 minutes to take a breath before the next fight. I think it'll just take getting used to. Also, I placed 2nd when I cleared out a village early on, then literally lay prone next to a rock until I had to move. Was forced to hose the 3rd guy and I was an easy kill for the winner. So, hiding in the mid-game is still a valid tactic, if you can get out alive to begin with!
- Teamers... got killed by a pair of people in Solo. Not the only one to experience this supposedly... Presumably because it's Solo only for now.
- Weirdly, it made me rage more than normal. Probably because you feel pumped when you nail someone, only to die soon after because you've made a whole load of noise. -
i've put some more time into this and i still suck balls. i think multiplayer fps are no longer my thing -

Snow map (Vikendi) is on the test server. I've had a couple of hours on it now and it's pretty awesome. Second best behind Erangel I think. But quite feasibly better. Needs more playtime, but initial impressions suggest it's really well-designed. Some really interesting locations. The towns are a lot different to the other maps - more like small CS maps. There are some nice slopes, but the mountains aren't as insane to trek across as on Miramar. The snow tracks are quite fun. I've found one set of tracks but I lost trace of it.
It's really good. -
Agree with the open sight lines in parts of the map. The white snow makes you stand out a lot as well. But, I do think there is plenty of bushes and fences and things in various areas. Also you don't have to run far between buildings. It's closer to Sanhok than Erangel in that regard.
I'm not a fan of Sanhok really. It's a knife fight and you just die from everywhere. I prefer the more considered approach on Erangel. And I think Vikendi still has that. It's big enough that there's not 20 people in a tiny circle.
