For me I would have to say it's Johnny Cash.. I've always thought he was great & own quite a bit of his vinyl but I wouldn't say he's my favorite by any means.
Every time I do hear one of his tracks though particularly if it's one I haven't heard for a while I tend to stop whatever I'm doing until the track has finished.. today was a good example, In a shopping center of all places with a pals 2 teenage daughters and stood motionless whilst..

was playing, surprisingly though neither of the young ladies was particularly cross even though they hadn't heard of him & both said they enjoyed the song one saying he sounded 'eerie' I'm hoping both are now going to look at the rest of his output.

Does you guys have any tracks/artists that grab your attention every time you hear them?

Barney (Napalm Death). May have to do with the music that I can't do anything else while listening.

Mikael Akerfeldt, at least in his old school death growl form, when he sounded like Satan incarnate!

Anneke van Giersbergen. She could sing the phonebook and I'd listen. She's fucking beautiful too.

When she said "eerie" I'm not sure she was referring to the song.

Good call. Certainly an unmistakable voice if there ever was one.

Marc Almond. Definitely a "marmite" kind of artist, but absolutely unique. I'm a fan. Only vocalist I've ever seen put the mic down in a gig and sing completely acapella - just a guy standing there and singing for an audience, with no effects or amplification or backing of any kind. Not something many singers would have the guts to do. Unforgettable.
