Fingers crossed he gets the show. Can't wait, two years away though...

Getting Urban signed would really help sell the show to someone like Amazon and help get more funding in place

May as well bring back Olivia Thirlby as Anderson. Or should they recast?

That's really great news. He was fantastic as dredd.

I thought she was great in the roll, and there's a need for Anderson to act as a foil to Dredd, she doesn't have to be in every episode but definitely some.

The could also be clever and set the TV show 5/6 years after the film, since it was released in 2012, so Anderson is a bit more experienced.

They could do so much with this. A series for each of the great storylines. I really hope this comes through.

They've been saying all along that they want it to be more than just Dredd so I can see standalone episodes for other Judges or even characters like Chopper. For the world to work in the cinema they obviously had to make it grittier and more realistic but with the tv series there is scope to expand it into something more colourful.

Fatties have got to be in there

If there's a series that really works being gritty, it's this.

It better not be Arrow with future cops.

The scope and material to draw from is immense, probably far more suited to a series. I love Dredd and even the 1995 one as a guilty pleasure but this has the potential to be amazing.

With the right casting and development time this could well be one of the greatest shows in existence, and hopefully do the Dredd fanbase some justice.

I really hope they do America storyline at some point.

It's a weird Dredd story as Dredd doesn't really feature much, but it's amazing.

Actually, Dredd not featuring much could make it better for TV, depending on Urban's schedule he wouldn't have to commit that much time. And it's more of a character piece, not many massive huge set pieces required. Unlike say, the Apocalypse War, which would cost a shitload.

The more I think about it, the more I want to see a retelling of America set in the films version of Megacity 1.

Budget (or lack of) is going to have a massive bearing on how this turns out. I've got a feeling it's going to end up looking like an episode of Dr Who.

If they stick to the film style it doesn't need to be that fantastic or expensive.

I can see it looking like Man In The High Castle where you know the bigger world is there but the action is mostly kept to rooms and hallways. Which is fine given how ridiculously big Mega City One is.

Something like America could work really well depending on how they plan to flesh out the ensemble cast.

I'm picturing something like the Doctor-lite episodes of Who being the model for a lot of his appearences if they do get a star like Urban in rather than a Star Trek style team of super best friends

Looking a lot more sci-fi than Dredd 3D did at street level

A mash up America, terror and total war would be great. There is enough there for an entire season.

I'd really like to see Cursed Earth and The Day The Law Died adapted somehow - they have an absolute treasure trove of source material to pick from whatever they do.

Latest on this is that they're currently writing a ten episode series.

I'd really like to see Urban come back as Dredd, he managed to do the character justice and wash away the bad taste Stallone's portrayal left behind.
