Finishing such a large and high-quality game usually results in me going through two weeks of generalised gaming procrastination and ennui, while I try to settle on my next game. Hoping that in this case, the sheer size of my backlog will get me to break out of the cycle a bit earlier. |

I'm in the same rut, though I did finally open and start dishonored 2 yesterday. Just spend ages scanning up and down my game libraries spines, struggling to connect with the many Half finished titles.
I currently have Breath of the Wild, Persona 5, Gears 4, Dead Rising 4, Watch Dogs 2, Yakuza 0, Nioh, Nier Automata, Prey AND Horizon Zero Dawn on a "started but not finished" backlog.
Didn't stop me picking up The Surge an hour ago though....... -

Registered 9 years agoI've had the surge since Sunday lol, just still not cracked it open as I was waiting for opinions. Still unsure whether to send back and rebuy cheaper in a month. -

Still got The Surge though, and I bought X-Com 2 today, probably won't play more than 20 minutes of it.

It is ridiculous: I've got Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Nier, The Last Guardian, Mass Effect Andromeda, Thimbleweed Park, and Darksiders 1 all on the go at the moment.
What the fuck is wrong with us?
Edit: fuck me, and Torment: Tides as well! Nearly forgot.
Just finished Prey. But, yes, clearly I need to go buy the Surge ./sigh

Registered 9 years agoI'm not even going to bother listing mine, suffice too say it's mostly the same titles as above and a little bit extra. There isn't much wrong with us, it's the industry. It's devoid of new ideas or genuinely exceptional games. Zelda coming along showed me that, it's not us so much as it's them. Desperate to latch on to something we snap up all the best games, except they actually aren't really all that good, well made maybe but not really fresh anymore.
Although xcom 2 is very good, it's just that it's the kind of game you can't just turn on for 5 mins, well not the way I play it anyway. Same with persona which is excellent and other games such as dark souls 3 which I keep looking at and saying "yes, but not now". -
Bloody hell I'm changing my tune about this game now despite me thinking it looks crap. I've gone right off gaming recently as well but anything souls related can pique my interest. -

Registered 15 years agoI'm in a total mess at the moment, backlog wise. I'm actively playing Prey and another Total War: Warhammer co-op campaign. But I also have a not-quite-prepared-to-call-it-a-backlog list of games which I'm still technically playing and haven't paused, but haven't put much time into lately. That includes: Nier Automata, Tales of Berseria, Nioh, Dawn of War 3, Torment and the Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels expansion. Tales of Berseria is particularly frustrating, because I am fairly close to the end, but Persona 5 just squashed all of my JRPG time.
I've now finished Persona 5 and I think it's time for me to admit that I've dropped Mass Effect: Andromeda and Breath of the Wild and am unlikely to pick either of them up again.
But not exactly needing yet more games right now... -

Registered 12 years agoLol and I also totally forgot Nioh! Jesus. -
Been reading a few reviews, the polygon and ign ones were pretty positive, the only really negative one I have read was PC gamer who seemed to be mostly complaining that it isn't Dark Souls. Every review with some depth seemed to suggest it has some merit and is just let down by plotting and some occasionally obscure boss fights.
I am actually not that deep into any other games at the moment so I reckon I will grab it. I think I even have some shopto credit so that makes it an easier decision. -

Registered 10 years agoOnly just got around to reading the Polygon review, which is very positive.
They call it "the biggest surprise of 2017 so far", which is kind of a big statement considering how fantastic this year has been for games up to this point. -

The PC Gamer review is weird, it just seems to stop half way through. -
@neems hah, that too, really odd. Maybe the 60% is related to how far they had got through the review. -

Registered 15 years agoOk, so, I gave in.
This isn't bad. It's better than Lords of the Fallen. More polished in both the design and technical senses. PC performance is fairly decent (LotF was a shitshow). My i7-6700k and 1080 Ti can't quite do 4k/ultra/60fps, but if I drop the resolution scaling to 90% (1944p), then I hit the mark. That's fairly normal for modern games. -

Registered 13 years agoI'm put off by Chiodini saying it's all a bit repetitive in enemies and level design as Nioh, even with stunning combat, became too samey. -

Registered 16 years agoOn around my 163rd attempt, I finally managed to brute force my way passed the third boss last night. Score. -
Had a few hours to play this today and I really like it so far. The first boss was a bit of a bugger until I figured out what was going on. Good atmosphere to the first section and the combat is really quite fun. Amazing how brutal it is though, really just a few hits and it's over.
Itching to play some more, hopefully I will have some time in the next few days.
