A port of XX has been confirmed for Switch.

Now it's just a matter of waiting

Read about this just a moment ago. It'll be interesting to see how it looks and plays. Not sure yet whether i'do consider a purchase. I clicked a hundred hours on 3 Ultimate, but never really got going with 4 at all, sadly. I may have had my share already!

Still, it's great news for the platform. It'll shift a ton more units in Japan at the very least.

    Mmm, colour me interested.

If this is decent then I can see it being the game that prompts me to get a Switch.
Although, I did the same with the WiiU and didn't really play MH 3Ultimate as much. Never seemed to touch the heights of Tri on the Wii...

I played around 150 hours of 3U on wii u. Absolutely loved it.
Got 4U, but found it too fiddly on the 3ds.

Me and a couple of friends are extremely excited to get it on switch. I actually lugged the wii u around with me for a while, just to have it available.
Switch seems a little easier somehow

This has made me very fucking happy. Localisation will take forever and a day, but it's almost a dead cert for a Western release after MH:G.

This is the ULTIMATE game for portable / home hybrid. I'm going to be fishing the sh1t out of this on the jubilee line every morning and hunting huge dinos when I get home on the big screen.

    BOOM.

@Gregolution yeah, the kind of game that can make you wish your commute was longer at times

So, this will be released in Japan in August. Special themed switch too. Cross play with the 3ds version so it'll be similar in theory to the WiiU version.

It's been hard enough to get a Switch over here with most shops like Bic Camera have a lottery system while Amazon sellers are selling them for an extra 10,000. Don't know if this will make it any easier.

Is it too much to hope that this is out over here by years end?

    It is isn't it?

    What's the idea?
    Are you literally hunting monsters?
Only time I've heard of this game is via the one of the guys on the bombcast.

@crashVoodoo It's more about the fight than the hunt. You fight small monsters, build better weapons and armor out of the monster parts, and hunt slightly bigger monsters. Repeat from here.

Fights can take very long, monsters have no visible health bars. Definitely more Dark Souls than, say, Diablo when it comes to the combat (but not as punishing, of course). Lots of different weapon styles that take long to master.

There are also a lot of talking cats.

@zoanoid In my experience, just keeping an eye out and having friends do the same, along with a little patience, will serve you fine. The smaller/medium sized stores are often pretty good but occasionally it's just blind luck; I remember on PSP launch day I joined a queue in Shibuya Tsutaya and managed to get one even though everywhere else I went was sold out. Obviously I'm not sure how useful that might be if you're outside of the big cities.

@UncleLou sounds like something I could get into. I'm all about games with progression.

    It's an awesome game concept.
And if you can get a good group of co-hunters it is even better.

I'm in 100%. Been playing (properly) since Freedom. I love Generations but I went back to it last night after playing on my switch and I'm ashamed to say it was tough to drop down to that resolution again. At least 4U had a better frame rate.

Demo on the store today, including online, will probably give it a go despite having it pre-ordered.

Same, just to get my fix. 12 bloody days to wait, I'm gonna go mad!
  • Deleted user 16 August 2018 11:52:34
    does progress carry over?
  • Deleted user 16 August 2018 12:07:33
Nope, no save at all in the demo according to reddit. There is online and local multiplayer though, which is very cool.

Downloading the demo just now. I remembered playing MHG for the 3DS so I'm intrigued to play this demo.
