I wonder if it would be more profitable at that price point, they would have to sell more than twice, but.. I agree with ya!
Itís in the top spot of the eshop charts. It has more than 16k reviews on Steam. I donít think we need to worry about profitability.

Value for money is a subjective thing, but the idea that this is a 10 quid game is out of touch, imo.
    Hollow Knight says hi

I think Hollow Knight is showing itself to be the Bargain of the Century, rather than the status quo. Astonishingly good value for £11 (60 hours and counting!).

The problem with Hollow Knight is that it's a bit shit, though.

Heh. Until I've fully rinsed HK, Dead Cells is just sitting limp and unwanted on my Switch dashboard. Quality always wins out over flash, and base appeals to the A.D.D generation. ;)

Yeah I'd agree that HK is unusually cheap.

I don't even know how I'd determine the value of a game anymore. Playtime? Pretty graphics? A mixture of both? I've played so-called "indie" games for cheap, and in retrospect would have happily paid double the price for them. And other "triple A" games (whatever that means) I feel less fulfilling.

£11 includes the equivalent of a Season Pass, what with the free DLC. Ridiculous value.

Yeah I'm still not used to the idea of paying £35 for DLC.

    But I will.

Absolutely. I also have a general dislike of the attitude that an indie game, ot a not-AAA game, needs to be cheap(er). Why? You could make a point that a game like RDR II actually should be cheaper, since it will sell 50 million copies or more, and make ridiculous amounts of money with in-game currency.

@Frogofdoom I was deffo one shotted as I had over 1400 hop as I'd just refilled my flasks n shit. Fired a blunderbuss thingy at me and it came up as cursed death or something. Maybe I did open a cursed chest but no ingame feedback told me I had.

Seems to be several comments on it crashing on people in here is that on the switch/PS4 ? I've had none on Xbox

I'm in the upgrades chamber between the first area and the toxic sewers, and there's a locked door between the mutations vendor and the health top up thing. It's one of those 'unlocks somewhere else' doors, but there's nowhere else to go. Bug?

@UncleLou in either case, with a good game my thinking is basically "someone, or some team of people, put a whole lot of themselves into this, into making this thing for me to enjoy". So who am I to begrudge them a few extra dollars for their efforts? I can afford it! (and if I can't, maybe I should have chosen a less expensive hobby :p)

I do have limits (the price of The World Ends With You remake is slightly taking the piss), but in general I see (imo) far too much moaning about the price of some games. People work really hard to make these things!

So, is this as good as everyone is saying?

Fancy a new game for the Switch that's good for handheld and docked.

I am loving it, but it wont be for everyone.

It is kind of weird, last year i had hated every run based/ rogue like game i plated. But this and Gungeon have very much turned me around and i am now a convert.

The combat is proper slick and i love the roll slide, it is nails though (which you should expect from a run based game i suppose)

Bollocks, I steered clear after yesterday's raping which was my first unlock of it.

Earlier i went and rinsed the sewers getting the rune down there finally, so I'll be steering clear of there from now on, well for a while at least. Went on a massive tear clearing all the maps, had all the shit, and then the concierge went Krakatoa on me during his last quarter health and smashed me in about three hits.

    Sad times.

Yeah yesterday's was hard as hell. Today's I just rolled past all the enemies and collected stuff and then went and killed the boss who was the concierge. I had some poison tower which absolutely ruined him and made it pretty trivial.

after much research I can confirm my hypothesis that both the cannonball dudes in stilt village and the slashers in ossuary can both get fucked

I thought yesterday's daily was ok myself, worked out where a couple of bits where then just ignored all the enemies collecting stuff. Think I prioritised the elite straight down from the start.

Cannoball guys are fairly non-lethal once you get used to them. I fought one slasher in yesterdays challenge and with fuck all health, yes they are horrible

Did anyone go Switch with this?

Deciding between that and Xbox and wondered if frame rate is silky smooth on the switch?

@Daz190uk I have it. It is not. The more visually busy stages run at something like 45-50fps most of the time and the game hitches quite regularly.

It's playable, mind. The developer has acknowledged the problem but it'll likely be some time before it's fully solid.

Yeah, it's definitely not smooth on the Switch, and seems to have some real frame-pacing issues which seem worse when docked. It's a shame, but it's still pretty great as a handheld game, and I'm sure these issues will be fixed eventually.

The game itself has started to really click with me. Came across a cursed chest, had to think long and hard before deciding to give in to its demands... luckily I'd already found the end of the chapter, so didn't lose out too much.
