Theyíre so different Iím not sure picking one over the other is any more meaningful than picking FIFA over Battlefield really. Both very good though, so unlikely to be disappointed in either.

They're hardly that different. In fact they're close enough that I've put DC on hold until I finish HK so as not to confuse my muscle memory.

And fwiw, I consider HK the thinking man's DC. :)

Dead cells does get a bit too hard on 2 boss cells though so make sure you don't buy shit blueprints and put your cells into the blacksmith instead.

Chalk and cheese for me in what I get out of them. Dead Cells lacks the finesse of HK and lacks the vibe. The world. The consistency. The craft.

I can feel that Iím playing an algorithm.

I canít play any two games with demanding controls at the same time either mind you. Not just pkatformers though. Any games. Iím old. :)

I mean, that's what I said. Just more pithily. :)

Not really. I donít consider them the same genre, accepting that theyíre both side on platformers. You consider them to be more closely related I think?

Seems like Iím a minority in this anyways.:)

    I wouldn't call Dead Cells a "platformer".

At least, the jumping between platforms stuff isn't really the main draw of the game - I don't think I've ever died in one of its "challenge rooms". It's much more action-oriented than something like Hollow Knight.

Yeah, fair. They're *fairly* similar - more so than FIFA and Battlefield or whatever it was Phattso said anyway. :)

I must say I don't really get the comparisons between DC and Dark Souls. HK and Dark Souls, absolutely.

After the ten games challenge is over, phattso will celebrate by spending 5 grand on games.

Thought you were playing God of War? Maybe I imagined that.

Well remembered! Bought it, but Iím trying to save it for October. But yes, youíre right: two AAA games out of 8 so far.

That's a pretty hefty game, between that and Dead Cells you should have plenty to keep you going until November.

Much prefer Dead Cells to Hollow Knight. Both lovely games, but Hollow Knight was repeatedly frustrating when I had no idea where to go, whereas Dead Cells is always terrific fun.

Both have been sidelined for Slay the Spire now though. I'm obsessed.

It's great fun but I'm getting pretty annoyed already. Beaten the first boss plenty of times, died a couple of times on the second one. Unlocked quite a lot, good the vine and teleport abilities unlocked but got to a point where I'm bored of all these first areas.

@Bichii I'd focus on getting the other abilities, there's quite a lot of different routes you can take but you'll need those abilities to get 'em

    No idea.

I've now got the ram ability. I got clock boss down to a tiny bit of health and mostly got angry.

Managed to beat this on the train home last night. Get in! First time I'd made it to the final boss, too.

Wasn't Graxlar saying the other day that damage reduction was key? I would agree.

    Such a lovely game.

Yeah damage reduction trivialises a lot of the game. Get a decent green build with the shovel and you can really stomp through shit.

@Frogofdoom strange. Both guides I looked at said go all in purple as the traps etc are op.

They fail at the last boss where as wolf traps ruin him, also purple builds have really low hp compared to green.

About to go home and get angry at this again..:). Think I need to mute the music as the first areas music gets too annoying on my thirty-first run.
