Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Page 13

I thought it would of sold well. The others were popular and it gets pretty much positive reviews across the board. I'm personally a big fan of the new order and old blood but don't have time for this at the moment. Seriously tempted at £20 though but again it can wait.

Dishonoured 2 is only a tenner now, which is a pretty steep drop.

The input lag makes it pretty much unplayable for me.

    @nickthegun

Yeah I noticed that the other day. Don't really know much about the sequel. I quite enjoyed the original.

D2 is also good. I enjoyed it a lot. once you get used to the 'floatyness' of it's controls.

Dishonored 2 went down to a tenner within two months of release, was fucking mental. I got it on release at full price and only just playing it right now, fuck sake.

It's fine on pc but the lag on consoles does make it really difficult to play I think. Plus the crappy framerate.

Itís a pretty common trend for Bethesda games these days. Release at full price, get that initial spike in sales, cut the price in half a month later to generate some extra interest/sales.

Various reports indicate it's sold badly. Headlines ranging from "slow start" to "commercial bomb".

Probably got swamped by better known franchises. Targeting this game for the Christmas run-up always looked like a mistake given the Wolfenstein brand just doesn't have the clout of "Call of Duty", "Battlefield" or "Assassin's Creed". Having been a (mostly accidental) victim of the culture wars won't have helped either. That's proven costly for a number of movies which have fallen foul of one side or the other (e.g. Ghostbusters). Worth noting it managed a better showing in non-US territories than in the US (where it seems to have absolutely cratered).

Turns out pissing off rightwing fuck wits isn't a good advertising strategy for a manshooter game.

Ahhh America land of free speech, but unable to handle any kind of criticism of said speech. Anyway I enjoyed the game, found it to be a solid single player focused jaunt which Bethesda have supplied a lot of this year.

Tried the demo... It's not great is it? Couldn't even make it to the end of the wheelchair bit before turning it off. The complaints about the complete absence of feedback when you're getting shot are spot on.

Oh well, that's saved me £20.

I'm on the final mission. Still thoroughly enjoying it, despite the difficulty spikes. Still got all the uberkommander missions and the sas missions to do as well.

There is a hell of a lot of content here, which is refreshing in an age where most shooter campaigns barely hit 6 hours.

I enjoyed the demo but not in a massive hurry to buy the full game as too much other stuff that I want.

Played the demo and enjoyed the two previous games.
I've spent enough so I'll wait and see what it gets dropped to come January.

Very enjoyable so far. Up to chapter 5 so far and the story and presentation are high quality.

Level design is a little meh so far and the constantly enraging hit detection feedback is laughably bad. I'm not sure what the thinking was here from machine games. Might have to drop the difficulty if it continues.

It's not enough of an issue to distract from the rest of the game luckily.

It has (so far) got a lot easier now I've got used to it. I spent my first weapon upgrade on a silencer and *boom* different game.

I would guess that I'm maybe a third of the way through and, so far, it's pretty much a stealth game, which I absolutely did not expect. There are so many more 'kill the commander' sections than the last one.

If it's on sale again at Christmas, I'll definitely pick it up then. I'm playing through the first one and the demo of the second one is excellent.

It's a shame about the damage feedback. That kind of thing works well in most shooters these days so I can only imagine they did it on purpose. They're re not exactly an amateur developer.

You're judging the game based on a short section right at the start where you/Blascowicz are wheelchair-bound?

I guess that's their fault for having that section form part of the demo, but if I were you I'd have at least given it a go once you're out of the chair. To each their own though.

It is weird but it's slightly mitigated by the fact that once you're getting shot, it's usually too late to do anything about it anyway.

Which gun did you silence Nick, I've just got my first upgrade kit and didn't want to waste it.

The pistol. One hit kill with a headshot and it feeds into the perks that let you do massive silenced and scope damage.

YMMV, the machine gun silencer may be just as good and I'm by no means a gamesmaster but I felt it very much made the game easier (and slower).

Still sucks that you can miss them, though, especially as you aren't tripping over them later in the game and they do get a bit harder to find.

I would have preferred skill based progression by a long way.
