    @Murbs Damn. I admit I haven't looked beyond the mention of it in a forum reply. I took the Ram Shackles first. I think most areas in the game have multiple entrances although they aren't immediately obvious.

    However, I can understand your perspective on things. I'd be reluctant to carry on if I couldn't trust the game to work properly.

    Is this a continuation of the new order? I have finished that but I'll be fucked if I can remember the story.

    Yeah but it's not important.

    @Frogofdoom

    Cool. Just didn't want to have to play through the original again.

    Just started this myself. Never played the original. It's pretty good fun but the combat/gun play isn't a patch on doom that I am coming straight from.

    It is actually super important, so I would wiki the plot.

    I say super important, it would be like watching uhm.... some film sequel without watching the first one. If you really can't remember anything, most of the plot will have no context.

    At the start of the game it has a reminder video .

    @nickthegun

    Yeah I genuinely can't remember anything. Might play through the new order again then.

    The recap video will be enough for you to remember.

    Yeah, I think a vid or a wiki plot synopsis would be enough, but the story is pretty good, so it would be a shame to start it with no context of where you are or why you're there.

    Yeah the story is certainly the best bit of the sequel as well, the gameplay is a step back from the first I thought.

    Yeah, I didn't think the upgrade system was as good and the weapons did feel a bit nerfed until quite late on.

    Mind you, the laser was ridiculous towards the end of the first game and, if you're playing on a tougher difficulty, the game forces you to play stealth, I played 90% of the game with the suppressed pistol.

    @nickthegun

    I seem to recall you saying it had some horrible difficulty spikes or was that someone else? I bought it from cdkeys for steam last week. I won't be playing it for a couple of weeks yet.

    I don't know about difficulty spikes, but it's hard all the way through. It does open up a bit when you've fully upgraded things, but your health and armour just melt if you're caught out in the open.

    Thinking about it, the spikes were largely down to bad checkpointing. There was a bit towards the end of the game that took me ages because I triggered it with no resources.

    @nickthegun

    Yeah that was it sorry. I remember the comment about the armour etc.

    It has some difficulty spikes for what I could class as boss battle equivalents.

    Interestingly, to do well in those, I found you have to play it a bit more like Doom, by which I mean you have to keep moving and running around the play are(n)a and mix it up with weapons and grenades and abilities (shoulder charge for the win) to keep the Nazis at bay. As above, if caught out and going toe-to-toe, you will get melted.

    And do a bit of hiding behind corners and then LASER BLAST those bigger fuckers.

    Oh, shit, yeah, there actually are a few difficulty spikes... don't know how I forgot the courthouse...

    You're right, the boss equivalents are pretty much all 'now kill 500 bad guys', which can be a pain in the arse.

    The courthouse was fucking mental. Took a good few tries.

    A midway checkpoint somewhere would have been welcome.

    That was the worst one i remember though.

    Quite looking forward to it now. I won't have my pc for a couple of weeks so I'll be trying to hammer the resistance games before I start on this.

    I've never actually played the old blood either.

    It's more the fact you get no feedback to being shot so it just goes before you notice you are being hit. It's the worst I have seen it in a game I think.

    The courthouse and the rooftop apartment were 2 of the most annoying bits, oh and I am dreadful at navigating that fucking base as well.

    The courthouse was one of those pyrrhic victories where it felt like I had won by attrition, getting killed enough times to work out how to cheese it.
  • Deleted user 10 July 2018 17:30:33

    Definitely.

    Die. Find some armour & live a bit longer.

    Die.

    Get armour, find weapon live a little longer.

    Die.

    Etc

    Bah. :-(

    I just wish they'd fix the damage feedback or lack thereof. I don't remember having that problem in the first game. It's a pretty important feature in a shooter like this!

    Just finished the court house. I like the story, characters, music, levels but find the combat very lacking. Pretty important part. :)

    I started this last night- not sure if I'm rusty after a good break between shooters but I really suck at it, dying all over the place. I'm on the middle difficulty, may well drop it down a notch to increase the chance I'll reach the end...

    I never really understood the damage complaints bits. If you were out in the open and getting shot at, you were dying. If there are multiple enemies and you are not moving and out of cover, you will die quite quickly.

    Completed last night. Was good fun. Some stupid stupid stupid bits like the court house but yeah good game. Shame the combat was average, mainly due to really weak a.i., you could generally just cheese any area because the a.i. was that bad.
