I found a new something annoying yesterday. ATKirin, I'm using Bow solo and my pailco buddy is using choral gadget. Little sod kept setting up his bongos between the camera, my target sight, and the Kirin, so I couldn't see where I was shooting. Y U do that, cat?

Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 14 crossover. Behemoth is coming! And the good times keep on rolling.

Having put Lunastra on hold for a bit I am back making progress.
Got the 10 mini-crowns and slay 50 Elder Dragons trophies.
And I got a couple more gold crowns this morning.
I reckon 500 large monsters will be the next one.

Does the research all monsters include new ones like Lunastra? If so, that's harsh as the requirements will keep extending as new monsters appear.

No, they research only covers the launch game monster set. If you're in need of level4 of Lavisoth, know that it doesn't leave footprints so capturing it is the fastest way of making progress (and the fastest fastest way is to do the mission where it's one of two targets along with Rollyboy, capture Lavisoth then Return From Mission.

Cool, so I don't need to do Jho either...
    Lavasioth does leave some marks...
Need to do lavasioth, dodogama and, erm, Kushala Daora I think.

I really wish Capcom had created a phone app.
It could basically allow you to view your guild card, hunters notes and equipment box. Perhaps create equipment sets.
Similar to the Destiny phone app really.

    Have I said this before?

I think I've agreed with you on that in the past.

Ok, he doesn't leave very many marks. Mostly because he spends his time bathing in lava, rather than walking anywhere.

Kushala is like Kirin, it doesn't attack you unless you attack it, so you can just follow it round on a solo investigation collecting bits.

Saw a Youtue vid yesterday suggesting an easy way to gather tempered elder investigations is to do a tempered Nergy inv, and basically wait around for five minutes or so so he can leave loads of footprints in the same place. Then go in and fight him and collect them.
Sadly, I've finished my one tempered Nergy investigation, so I'll need to come back to that later..

Nergy just moves backwards and forwards in the same area, I don't think he leaves - so you can collect his tracks if you're wearing the ghillie mantle, but when it wears off you have to hide from him because he'll fight you when he sees you.

Kirin has a long loop leaving footprints you can just follow. Kushala has a much, much smaller loop, doesn't agro, but will sit down for a couple of minutes at a time not doing anything.

As long as you use the Return from Quest (not abandon), any points you collected will be retained - you don't need to fight/kill them. Works on AT Kirin too.

I saw somewhere else that if you sit down, the ghillie mantle timer stops. So you can sit for ages.
I will try the kirin and kushala approaches as I have tempered inv for both.

I also read/saw that hero/warrior streamstones drop more often on investigations that are 30min or less and/or max 2 people and/or 2 faints or less.
Does this match other people's experience?

Nope - wishful thinking. There's an officially scantioned book which Gaijen Hunter did a video on showing the exact drop rates for everything (prior to the last update which improved them slightly), and it doesn't include any factor for number of people/time. Cash rewards and the number of purple rewards often increase, but the content of those purple rewards doesn't appear to change.

    Oh, that's interesting.
Because the Nergy Inv I had was 15min, max 2 players and max 2 faints. And I got streamstones for hammer and swords. (I fainted twice on the final attempt. :( ) Maybe it was just coincidence.

    Get back on it Grax!!
I was doing G Jagras in 1m11 the other day for the weekly bounty. And i'm sure that's nowhere near what some can do.

I realised last night that I hadn't completed the quest line for the Evasion Mantle, so tried the quest with tempered Pink Rath and Azure Los.
    I bummed out.

Speculation - would a dung bomb have any effect when there's nowhere for the monster to flee to? I suspect not.
Just wondering on a strategy, other than getting a group together.

An arena quest? No, dung bombs won't do anything. Doing it as a group has the advantage that the mon's attention will be split, so you'll only have to deal with 1/2 of the attention, rather than 100% of 2.

Have you got the temporal mantle?

No, because that involves beating Lunastra. Which as previously mentioned feels like a bridge too far at the moment.
Although, I have significantly upgraded my 'gaan armour since then, so it might be worth another try.

Had a quick go after a couple months away to see if I could remember the controls. Besides tyring to run and dodge with circle (Souls) I managed to repel Lunastra after a couple quick carts before I found my rhythm.

Some good hunting last night with Chris, John and Jake (is he on the forum?). It was just like old times. :)

We got through the Lunastra quest line and did some tempered Kushala.
And now I have a beautiful pink armour skin - I look like a camp Musketeer!!

Except for my forgetting to eat, sort an item loadout, drink any potions and what the buttons do I think it went quite well.

Forgot how good the game is.

Jake is Sid, Sid is Jake.

    It is easily my favourite.
I know the Platinum trophy will still take me ages, but equally, I know that I will get it eventually. :)
