No Worries, Cheers Alistair, bring a low level character though, I like a bit of a challenge at least :)

I'll bring a weapon I'm not used to. It will be like having a n00b!

Heh, I feel that, I might as well attack them with a spoon if I had to hand in my Sword and shield

Lance, bow, switch axe, dual blades are all ok. The rest are something of a closed book.
SnS I have at least read the back cover.. 😉

I would join in but with two wee babas I'm too likely to flake out, sorry!

Having picked this up again on sale last week, is there a way to stop the larger monsters from running away to another area?

That was the part that ground me down and made me give up last time, and I forgot about it.

Continually having to pointlessly chase them to another area, and then again to another, and then again to another is such a dull mechanic.

I'm quite enjoying the moment to moment gameplay apart from that bit. Please tell me there's a way around it...

Hit them with the Slinger bombs they drop towards the end and that pisses them off and they turn and fight, but them moving off is built in, so you have to track I guess, even though you have already probably fully researched them.

If they are a flier you can flash bomb them out of the sky.

The running gives you a breather though, time to sharpen, heal, buff etc. After a while, you know where they are going, and old advanced level stuff involved someone splitting off and setting up traps/bombs in advance.

These days it's all Atk Boost, Weakness Exploit, Crit Boost pile-ons......

Yeah, time to sharpen the blade, refill ammo, drink a potion or two when they run off!

    Flippin' 'eck, Tucker!
Tempered Kushala was harder than I expected. Osso and I got his skull flashing, then I got stuck in his fucking tornado and fainted.

    /goes to forge Kushala armour....

It's a battle of attrition, and yeah, I got jammed into a stun-loop myself before the insurance kicked in.

It also brought back the fact that Tempered Elders are really best solo'd, so I'll leave you to it next time. ;)

Felt a bit of an itch to do some hunts, and ran a few solo yesterday just to remind me of the controls.

My history of tempered elders is almost exclusively in mp, 2, 3 and 4 and I personally find it easier as a greatsword user when the beast is distracted. Though it does bully the tempereds if there is no support!

Such a good game, may try and get on a bit more.

Also, I don't care about 'new record updated' unless you're going to show me a nice golden crown as well!!

This game has definitely got it's claws back into me.
Now that I've re-learned VH moves I can do it without fainting. And I got the small crown this afternoon. 😊

Tempted to get back in myself with Kulve having new weapons. I just don't know if I have the motivation to do that fight another 100 times without getting what I want :)

Woop ! New Bazel Gunlance w/Crit Element from third Kulve run !

Can call it quits on that then. :D (pro tip: finding JP speed lobbies takes most of the pain away)

How was the upgrade to AT Kulve?
Was there are tempered version? I think I missed it.

There wasn't a tempered version, the big event monsters (Xeno, Zorah) along with Kulve went straight to AT, but all it really means is an increased health pool and a few new moves.

Has to be said, found it to be incredibly easy compared to last time, thanks JP bowgunners, but there are a few knocks that'll wipe 90% of your health/OHK no problem at all. Seems they nerfed the ability to block the firespew, chunking huge amounts of stamina but at least pushing you out of it's AoE.

But yeah, old strats still apply - cannons, smash parts in area 2, push to area 3 and then retreat back to the previous two collecting every track, gold chip etc. Wait out that first Stage 1 attempt and let Kulve retreat after 15mins or so. We had three squads in the lobby doing this (I presume) and went straight to Stage 6 after that first run, finishing her on the second attempt with max rewards.

Even if you're low HR, chuck on some Heavy Artillery decos and man the guns, and keep out of danger focusing on collecting all the bits for the research level. As long as you run one attempt, even solo, you'll still be able to claim some rewards for being in the lobby.
