When do we think it'll be released? End of 2018 is my bet.

Reveal at E3 2018 and release late 2019, massively polished and revolutionary like Zelda BotW.

As I just said in the other thread, this could be a very long way off indeed. I just hope we actually see it on this generation.

Definitely miles off but just knowing it's happening is enough, Switch doesn't exactly look like it's going to be starved for great content over the next 18 months.

It's just nice to know the franchise wasn't killed by that crappy 3DS game.
  • Deleted user 13 June 2017 17:46:11
I think I remember saying I'd faint if this was announced.

I had to sit down for a bit.

Let's have a hd trilogy port while we wait please!

Eh? Is this actually a thing? I haven't heard this at all.

    Ok, first of all, \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

There are people online suggesting Retro aren't the ones making this, though. According to them, it's being internally developed by Nintendo in Japan.

It's being developed internally by Reggie, in a very literal sense. There's eight people inside him right now working on the concept art, alongside the usual three puppeteers.

I can see it changing name before it gets released. And I'm still interested in what Retro are doing.

I bought MP3 last year second hand, but to be honest the amount of fucking waggle has led me to putting it on the back burner pretty much indefinitely. I guess I should look into emulating it so that I can use a button to simulate that waggle, but I'll need a newer computer for that.

Yeah I'm not really sure why they're persisting with the whole Prime thing. Just go back to plain old Metroid.

Exactly my experience too. Loved 1 & 2, never got into 3 so a Switch remaster would be welcome to tide us over until 4 arrives.

Retro haven't released anything since 2014, I'd be very surprised if it isn't them developing 4.

I am okay with this. The whole original Prime team have pretty much all left Retro, who better than to make the next one than themselves?

A top secret Switch project that they started shortly after finishing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Whatever it is, it's been in development for a good 3 years. Unless projects have been scrapped or ideas have evolved.

Worst case scenario they hit a brick wall and scrapped years of hardwork and are just starting on something else.

That's an exaggeration, a lot of the key staff left such as the Armature guys but it's clearly not the whole team.

There have been a few "new ip" rumours, no idea.

Hearing that title music again was just magnificent. I think it will be difficult to stop grinning for at least the next 24 hours.

I think Metroid Prime Trilogy might get a release on Switch to build hype for Metroid Prime 4. It wouldn't be difficult to reproduce the control schemes.

Still haven't heard any VC news, so maybe they'll drop VC information during the week and MPT gets a release then.

I'm assuming they want to use the Prime name for first-person view stuff? Dunno.

Well, I guess I'll be buying a Switch after all when this comes out.

But yes, that (identical) title music... :swoon:

I think this will be out next winter. Never got on well with Prime but hope for big things. Maybe time to try Prme again. In 4k on Cemu.

They have nothing to show of the game, if they called it anything but Metroid Prime 4 people would have assumed it wasn't a "proper" Metroid game and maybe more like Federation Force or something else. The fact that they're calling it Metroid Prime 4 means that it's going to play like those games (which is what everyone wants). Doesn't mean it has to say being called that but I don't think it'll change until they're able to show off some gameplay.

Oh, also... I am very, very happy by this news! I've been wanting a new Mtroid game for so many years and I'd completely convinced myself that Nintendo weren't announcing anything new this E3. Then they showed Kirby for 2018 and announced a Pokemon entry for next year too before saying that this event is mainly focused on 2017 games so figured that would be the end of the announcements. When they then showed some space stuff I thought it was really cruel of them to tease anyone expecting Metroid in that way and then the music started and the 4 appeared and I freaked out! Couldn't really pay attention to the rest of the show to be honest.
