"ties together the events of the Metroid Prime Universe" = concerning

"action, isolation and exploration" = yay.

Tying together the Prime Universe probably just means it really is a part of the Prime story thread, which might be why it's called Prime 4 and not just Metroid 5 or something. I have no idea where they can go with that story though as I thought the main Phazon McGuffin was done. Then again, killing the last Metroid in existence has been the main plot for most of the other games so maybe it'll just be "LOL JK lots of Phazon left". Also to be honest I never finished Prime 3 so maybe lots was left.

Federation Force apparently hints at MP4's story, apparently it suggests that Prime 4 will take place after Prime 3 and before Metroid 2, where Sylux has successfully stolen a Metroid from the Galactic Federation confinement.

As long as there isn't a load of shitty NPC cringeworthy dialogue.
Give me Samus on a desolate, lonely world, exploring, acquiring abilities, shooting space pirates in the face, visors, suits, varied, beautiful environments and that amazing world design.

    Can't wait!

That new metroid on 3ds looks fucking slick though so I'll be having that to tide me over in the meantime.

I've never actually finished MP1 or played 2/3. Bought the trilogy one Wii U and had a dodgy Wiimote so never finished.

Think I might get it downloaded and play it using Dolphin.

Well if it's going to be developed in house, hopefully they'll be taking the same leaps as they have with Zelda and Mario. Willing to take risks with their established IP's seems to be their thing at the moment.

Completely disagree about nintendo would be better to do f zero over metroid. The switch has fast racing rmx and mario kart. Whilst f zero would be nice it is by no means needed.

Metroid prime is not catered for at all.

On another note, metroid has always been a bit of a dungeon crawler filled with puzzles like one massive zelda dungeon. How about it going open world as zelda did with the same level of craftsmanship in the world design!!

Clearly no climbing mechanic, but a new power up could work pretty well.

A properly open world by definition would break Metroid's traditional core.

In terms of F-Zero vs Metroid, didnít the last couple of F-Zeros completely and utterly bomb? In fact donít all future racers bomb?

Metroid on the other hand is the closest thing Nintendo have to a credible adult franchise (which is still of course playable by kids). Get Prime right and it could be massive for them.

They had actually asked Criterion to develop an F-Zero for Wii U a good year before that console launched, so its not like they haven't tried to bring it back. Who knows, though. Maybe somebody out the is developing one.

I have to admit, I was alone when watching it and hurt my hand slapping the desk I was watching the stream on in happiness.

It HAS been a long time.

    (Just had to check - 2002(!) MP1, 2004 MP2 , 2007 MP3 - ten whole years)

I didn't know about Ninty outsourcing F Zero to Criterion. That's a shame it didn't work out.

I'm surprised it's so difficult though. Heck, they could just buff/rebadge the Gamecube one and I'd buy it in an instant. Absolutely loved that game.
