I broke the first rule of gaming - *never buy an EA game* Today I picked up Need for Speed Undercover for the Playstation 3. Graphically it fails to match the standards set by Gran Turismo. Graphically it looks lower than GTA V. Graphically is has that smudgy look that Playstation 2 games tended to suffer from. It is my first, probably last, Need for Speed experience. yea ea never made or published good games ever apart mirrors edge and mass effect and titanfall 2 and PVZGW and classic bf games and dragon age and unravel and skate and dead space and kotor and crysis and the burnout series and the sims and quite a few good fifa and most wanted and a few others throughout history good thread m8 well done -

The Rules of (Euro)Gaming:
Back in the day, you were allowed to hate EA as they suckled at the devils teat. Then the devil turned into Liz Hurley from Bedazzled and all was forgiven, and you weren't allowed to hate them anymore. Then they done fucked up the end of Mass Effect and you can hate them again (but only if you're a knob, because who the fuck are you to tell them how the game they made should end).
If you only own one console, you're not allowed to slag off the other consoles (although this is more of a suggestion than a rule).
If you haven't been on EG since they days when we were all numbers rather than free men then your opinion doesn't count.
If you don't know where "I am not a number, I am a free man" comes from, then you're not allowed to have an opinion about anything.
The only music that exists in the world is prog rock, heavy metal, game soundtracks and Tori Amos. -

Registered 20 years agoI was looking for a thread to praise EA last week. My son did something on FIFA that fucked up. I didn't quite understand it, so got him to chat to the support droids. She told him to piss off then blocked him, as she thought he was making it up.
30 minutes later the app on my phone binged and she was back on, apologising and giving him 30 million rubber boots or whatever the made up currency is, having done some investigation and found he was telling the truth. -

It's not the first rule of gaming - in fact I'm not even sure what number rule it is - but I rather like "Servants and librarians may be killed even when they are on alert" (from "Styx: Master of Shadows")
Many of the "Rules of Gaming" are applicable to real life, and that's certainly one that I like to live by. -

I am with you that in grand scheme of things EA are a problem, but so are Microsoft, Sega, Sony and Nintendo, just as are the 3rd party publishers on every chuffing platform. As gamers we should have equal ire with everyone who provides us with the content for our hobby, bar a handful. But being the biggest dog on the block doesn't make your actions worse than those of others. What we need to do is accept that we get shat on or take up football. O -
Yeah don't worry, I hate most modern games equally, but I have a special ire for EA.
Dunno what it is. As a #90s kid I just get an allergic reaction whenever I see the EA logo. Even though it's irrational I think subconsciously I believe I'll get aids if I actually play one of their games. -

Registered 9 years agoI've been the same way with Bethseda's buggy, broken games. Wouldn't touch any of them for a long, long time. But I didn't look at who it was by when my daughter said I should pick up Dishonoured on the PS4. I've popped the disc in, and not played it yet. Part of that is prioritising my time to play a game, but there is a part of myself that regrets I am shallow enough to avoid playing a game, especially as it is recommendec by my daughter, just because of the Bethseda association. -

Yeah they're a load of shite too. Fallout 3 is one of the most overrated games of all time. Big empty square environment with a load of shit looking, buggy enemies and a load of lockers you rifle though finding crap to sell and a piss poor combat system where you can either do the same slow mo crap for 100 hours or run backwards from a scorpion trying to shoot it in the face with the terrible first person shooter mechanics.
