Was just about to type the same thing. Pretty short, but it's such a well made and enjoyable game. The first game I completed on the mini.

Buster busts loose is on there as well.

Have just noted my return of the Jedi isn't working.

So what's the crack with getting mega drive games. Is it easy to install something to qdo that?
Yes I'm being lazy and can't be arsed to trawl the thread.

It's weird how some games are easier nowadays, some games are harder. I remember thinking Buster Busts Loose was fairly difficult when I played it as a kid, yet I breezed through it in about an hour and a half when I replayed it last year. Likewise, I remember completing Drakkhen on the SNES around the same age, yet trying to play that recently was like being smashed in the face with a brick while trying to draw a perfect circle.

Anyone completed FF 3(6) before? What makes it so special, without spoiling anything.. I'm 3 hours in, and yeah it seems intriguing at the moment, but I don't feel an excitement to push on and see what happens.

It's got some good twists and some drama with some of the characters (a bit like FF7) but if you're faltering at 3 hours you might find it a bit of a slog.

@LelandPalmer There's a ton of characters and the narrative splits up into various smaller parties as a result at various points. Lets it twist and turn more and just makes it feel a bit more epic.

Hmm I'll keep going for a few more hours. I'm at the point where I could choose the 3 narrative points, after the raft incident. Maybe I've played too many new FFs... btw IX is still my favourite.

Nintendo released some more yesterday on their site and in a very short time they all seem to have gone. My partner managed to grab one before they sold out. Utter madness though.

I just gave my unopened Snes mini to my friend for his 40th birthday. I bought it for myself but he reminded me recently that he once played Mariokart with his mum whilst he was on acid, so it kind of felt appropriate.

He opened it in front of me. I was very jealous of how adorable it is.

Is there anything on the SNES or Megadrive like R-type, only with a reasonable difficulty level?

I am trying to rememberif the SNES Gradius 3 was supposed to be harder or easier than the arcade... I think it was easier. UN Squadron and Axelay shouldn't be too bad. As for Megadrive you have the Thunderforce games, Hellfire (I won my copy of F Zero GX in an Indie shop high score competition on this game) and Steel Empire. Some of them should be managable.

I bought a SNES mini from Amazon France for my Mrs’ Christmas present.

I know I need a plug to make it work, and I see Nintendo sell an official one. My question is could I use a spare iPhone USB plug?

I suppose I read 'reasonable difficulty' as meaning not too hard, but it could have meant not too easy. I tried to choose easier games although I am not over familiar with the shmups from the 16 bit home systems.

Nintendo say a 1A power supply is needed on the box, but I've been running it off a USB port in my TV which is rated 500 mA and it works fine as well, so YMMV.

    You were right.
    R-type was very hard

Heh, I must have started and given up on VI about ten times before I finally saw it through.

Chrono Trigger is slightly better IMO, and I had no trouble seeing that one through to completion on my very first play through. The battle system is loads of fun and the story and graphics are great. And FWIW it could easily be considered a “Final Fantasy”.

I think I've made a huge mistake by not stocking up on items. I've got to the train, and no merchants about.

FFVI has aged a bit now. When you look at the jump from FFV to FFVI though, it's easy to see why it is so fondly remembered. Chrono Trigger has aged better... feels more timeless, ironically enough.

If you're worried about the train, iirc you can kill the boss instantly with a phoenix down.

Anyway, FF6 is immense. It's got one of the best end-games I've ever seen in a game. The music is brilliant too.

For people still after one of these for 'close to RRP' I saw half a dozen on the shelves at my local Game for £79.99 so may he worth checking out your local. Looks like it has actually restocked properly.

Where's a good rom place? Or is such talk banned on here... Technically I owned pilotwings as a kid, so I really want to give it another go.

Search for Snes No Intro on archive.org. One 3 gig download later and you've got everything.
