Currently back in stock on Amazon (proper, no prime/fresh/third party shenanigans).

Finally got my hands on mine for Xmas (delivered at launch) now, to mod this fucker. Still snes nonintro at the usual place yeah? No newer build or place to get from? Or is it all up to date, are the roms included in the 3gb install and is it a single file download, (don't do torrents or any of that shit anymore). Plenty to answer there but hopefully all straightforward to respond.

Ok so I've got the snes no intro stuff, anything missing from there? It's pretty comprehensive but peeling through it all has turned my head to jelly. Bound to be some gaps there?

The Snes Mini is back in stock on the Nintendo Store. Before I buy one would I need to add a USB power adapter or can I use my Nintendo Switch power adapter/charger.

The SNES mini uses micro USB, I believe. The Switch uses USB-C. The charger wouldn't be compatible.

I think it's type B and the switch uses type C which has an integrated wire. . You can use any USB charge plug though, like what a phone uses, just plug the snes mini USB cable into that. Or plug it in into a spare usb socket on your TV if it has one. Or another console, but the console would also need to be on to provide power (I think?)

You could probably stick the USB cable into one of the ports on the switch Dock and do it like that?

    So, lots of options really.

I just connect mine to the TV's USB, no need for a power adapter.

I bought one of these with extra games (IGNs top 100 SNES games)

However when I get to a certain point on Legend of the Mystical Ninja it just crashes - disappointed as I never completed it back in the day

Not sure if it's a problem with the ROM or the mini itself though

Cheers guys abut the adapter advice. So I can just plug it into the tv and not worry about a power plug to use it. Just now read that you can use an iPad charger plug. Thatís me sorted then, just now ordered one.
Now I will be looking into adding more games to it, just need to find a best full link on how to do it.
I have wondered with these new batch from Nintendo if they have block the console somehow so you canít add anymore games to it.

Can Retroarch be set up to do a 'select + down' command like hakchi?

I'm about to start my very first playthrough of Chrono Trigger.

I used to own a SNES back in the day and it has always bothered me that for some reason I never got to experience what is widely renowned as the best RPG ever. I am about to correct this mistake.

I used to look back at the older and dated graphics and be put off by them. Now though I enjoy pixel art games and these older games and just find the graphics kind of endeering.

    Looking forward to this one.

You're in for a treat, still the best RPG ever IMO.

@richyroo that's because it was never released officially in the EU until really recently. Quite surprised they didn't include it on the base Snes mini because of that.

And atothewest is right, it is one of the best. I think that the graphics are brilliant too :)

    @ZuluHero

I never knew that. At least this explains why I never heard of it unil AFTER I had moved on from the SNES.

I'm a couple of hours in now and I like the battle system and the characters so far. Interested to see how they use the time travel moving forward.

    @Pazie

Why wouldnt it be safe? Unless something has changed recently that I am not aware of, I just used hackchi to load more Roms onto the SNES mini. It was incredibly simple to do I think even my gran could of done it (if she was still alive, bless her soul!).

@richyroo I was worried because the person on YouTube says do this at your own risk.

    @Pazi

They always say this just to cover themselves. There will always be a little bit of risk when it comes to flashing or modifying any firmware, yet this is bar far the simplest I have ever done.

Alternatively post it to me and I will do it for you and post back at no cost (providing you would trust a complete stranger 😀;). I will also put any additional games on it that you want.

My advice is not to worry and just do it. After the few minutes it takes to do you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

I put an additional 40 odd games on mine.

For me my list includes games that I played and enjoyed as a kid, along with the very best games that the SNES has to offer (based on my own considerable research online).

My whole list as follows. I have noted the must include games which no collection should be without. If I include one game from a series I also have to include them all (except Earthworm Jim 2 as that doesnt work for some reason).

    MUST INCLUDE GAMES:

    Act Raiser
    Aladdin
    Alien 3
    Batman Returns
    Battletoads & Double Dragon
    Blackthorne
    Breath of Fire II
    Chrono Trigger
    Donkey Kong Country 2
    Donkey Kong Country 3
    Earthworm Jim
    Fatal Fury 2
    Final Fight: 1,2,3
    Ghoul Patrol
    International Superstar Soccer Deluxe
    Killer Instinct
    The Lion King
    Pilotwings
    Super Star Wars
Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
    Super Mario All Stars
    Super Street Fighter II
    Super Tennis
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
    Top Gear
    Ultimate Morkal Kombat 3
    X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse
    Yoshis Island
    Zombies Ate My Neghbours

NOTABLE GAMES (Ones I added because I enjoyed as a kid)
    Cool Spot
    Flashback
    Pop n Twinbee
    Street Racer
    Super Double Dragon
    Super Smash TV
    WWF Royal Rumble
