So, did anyone try the open beta? Speaking as someone who's played probably a combined 300+ hours with the first 2 Dissidia games I have to say...
I really didn't like it. I appreciate the change to 3v3, it's something different, but the execution of it is a mess. My biggest gripe is the lack of control. You can't switch to a teammate mid match or call them in for an assist attack leaving it to the AI, which is completely ineffective. I played a bit of the standard battle endless mode and when playing a team that is ranked Diamond difficulty or highter, your teammates turn into punching bags. It's never fun to feel like you lost a game because it got out of your control but that's what it feels like when playing against AI that poses any kind of challenge that is more than just standing there like punching bags for you instead. It feels like 1vs3 rather than 3vs3.
They've made a few other changes as well which hurt the game, no assist attacks, only 1 HP attack per character, no EX Burst attacks (imagine a Dissidia game with no Cloud doing Octoslash ffs), unable to change or set up bravery attacks, Cosmetic items hidden by lootboxes, no equipment or gear to earn and use, stages are far too big, story mode progression seems gated by in game currency for some reason. Ultimately when it's 3v3 and a summoning attack fills the screen with so much lights, colors, and particles that I can't even follow what's going on at times.
Hope most of these issues can be resolved by the beta, otherwise this could already be my most disappointing game of 2018.

I had pretty much the same feelings when I tried the beta a few days ago, and really just wish they'd kept it to 1v1.
The game is already out in Japan and will be out here in ten days, so nothing is going to change.
I put 20 minutes into it, I donít really know what to think as it seemed like there was more to it than met the eye but on the surface level it seemed kinda insane. Still getting it as I love me some final fantasy but it coming out 4 days after DBFZ and monster hunter World (2 games I am much more excited about) I imagine this why get played much.
So this is going pretty cheap on coolshop.
How is this now since the release? Did they release updates that somewhat cleaned up the HUD? It just seemed so overbearing even on a 50" screen.
@pacrifice I like it but it is mental.
