Registered 17 years agoDidn’t they say it was going to be Tom H after The Night Manager? Or some other actor after he had a hit TV series?
I don’t know how soon they’ll start looking for a new Bond. It’s not out till Feb 2020 assuming it doesn’t get delayed again.
They will play it very safe with the lead actor. They won’t even announce it until months after the Craig film is out.
If everything goes smoothly then they may have a press conference before the end of the year and reveal the title of this film and show off the entire main cast.

Registered 13 years agoThey just need to stop dicking around and get the only real actor that can to the part some justice.

Yeah I got through that show in the end, but it didn't especially grab me, him especially - although I suppose he does dour and miserable pretty well. The bomb vest scenes were tense, I'll give it that.
He was alright in Bodyguard, but nowhere near enough charisma -

Registered 17 years agoThey’re bringing back Lea Seydoux‘s character from Spectre. She was the best thing in the film and hopefully she’ll get a lot more to do in this one. -

Registered 15 years agoWasn't that hard - Worst Bond film (imo).
I like Daniel Craig but he's been given so much dour shit, it's just boring (although I still watch them when they are on ITV2/4 - love my bond!).
Next Bond needs to have a lot more humour and proper stunts. -

Registered 16 years agoPost-Brexit Bond has him smuggled into Belgium to take down Ernst Stavro Juncker, with a little help from new Bond Girl, Nadine Dorries. End of the film has them draping the St George's Cross (no more Union Flag) over the Manekin Pis as they make love on a cargo drop of British jams. -

Registered 17 years agoIt’s now out on 8th April 2020. Pushed back from Valentines Day. It also seems to be getting a complete rewrite.
It’s really not looking good. I remember it being reported that Craig supposedly wanted the film to have a Dr. Who regeneration type ending. So the new Bond would be a big reveal at the end of the film. Boyle said the proposed ending was “utterly ridiculous”. Can’t find the article anywhere though. -

Registered 10 years agoSeries does need a break though I believe Dalton to Brosnan was 5/6 years.
I actually don't think Craig's idea of a "regeneration" is that terrible. I would like the series to just drop the charade that it's all the same bloke and instead say it's a codename for a top operative.
Could go either way but definitely needs a new direction.
Sod it. Go all in and get Paul Greengrass directing Tom Cruise as Bond. Admit when you've been bested. -

Registered 15 years agoThe regeneration notion would have worked if they hadn't rebooted. They've re-explained Blowfeld and even gone to the lengths of giving his scar a backstory. That said, having Judy Dench following over from the old timeline into the reboot also doesn't make sense.
To be honest I think people overthink that aspect of it. I don't think there ever was a 'charade' that it was all one person. Each Bond film is more or less self-contained within its own time period. Again, it was only really through rebooting it that people starting to really question how that all worked. -

I seem to remember Lazenby thinking fondly of mementos that Connery had collected (a sea shell possibly?) though it's been ages since I've seen OHMSS...

But then on the other hand I do distinctly remember Lazenby's opening line of that film which would suggest the name is passed on...
Or, you know, it's just silly spy action adventure stories... -

Registered 15 years agoExactly. There might have been the odd thing that could suggest there is/isn't a timeline, but I don't think it's ever really mattered much. They can carry on, reboot, do self-contained, whatever... -

Maybe not being able to reach 007 status was what got Sean Bean all hot and bothered in Goldeneye. -

Registered 18 years agoI'm a week late, but I think the 'it's all one dude' thing was proved by Craig visiting his childhood home with M, and it saying Bond everywhere, wasn't it? I always like the idea of it being a codename, and I remember that shat on it somewhat.

Maybe "Chipmunk"
