Moore era had lots of good ones, with Duran Duran's being a genuinely good song outside the context of the movie. The Sam Smith one was offensively bland.

Yes you're right! In a strong year too. (I don't recognise any of the other nominated songs).

It's actually alright until he goes into that awfully shit falsetto bit. By alright I mean fine for a bond film.

I can’t really be dealing with ellish, it’s all dreary, grumpy mumblepop. Kind of like Lana del Rey but with less class. Which is also shit. Also shouldn’t bond themes be uplifting? This is all moody shit like that Sam smith whiny shit.

For better or worse, they have reflected the tone of the movies.

It hasn’t been very uplifting to watch four straight movies documenting Bonds midlife crisis.

Pretty much, but I actually think some of her other tunes are at least a bit interesting. This is just so slow, quiet and boring. Might be the worst of the Craigs yet, though can't really remember QoS and Spectre tbh.

Obviously, to quote the films, James Bond films are for misogynistic dinosaurs. Trying to get hip singers in to appeal to the yoof. Next one Ed Sheeran or somebody non binary.

Honestly I can't even recall Casino Royales theme. Chris Cornell did it but I'm fucked if I can recall a single bar.

All the Craig Bond films have had weak tunes.

I can't recall any of the Brosnan ones either, come to that. I think I can recall some bloopy beepy sounds for that Mirwais produced Madonna song, but that might just have been a supermarket check out I'm thinking of.

Even the classic films have more forgettable than memorable tunes. Just that the memorable ones are outstanding.

Pub trivia fact: U2 wrote ‘Goldeneye’ for Tina Turner.

I'd argue that well over half of the Bond themes are memorable for some reason or other. Aside from the ones already mentioned, there's You Only Live Twice, Thunderball, Goldeneye, Nobody Does It Better... could just be because most of them are imprinted in my memory from childhood.

The new one seems far too low key considering the artist, I was expecting something a lot more modern and edgier, something like Bad Guy reworked to sound a bit Bondier... but I guess that wouldn't fit the tone the film is going for.

Nah, have to be honest I can't even recall Goldeneye. It just turns into Goldfinger whenever I try to recall it.

Nobody Does it Better I'll grant you, but I can't recall Thunderball or to You Only Live Twice. I'm sure if I hear it I'll go "oh that one!" but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Though to be fair I can't recall most of the films that well either, so who am I to talk.

Loved the Sheryl Crowe Tomorrow Never Dies one. Starts kinda slow like the new one, but actually goes somewhere. I always thought it was an underrated film too. Got slammed because Jonathan Pryce was a shit bad guy. Michelle Yeoh was a great bond girl though.

I remember liking Tomorrow Never Dies, but can't recall any specifics. He had a big boat as a base?

Still better than Die Another Day which I do recall as it was so crap. And it has not aged well.

I think Tomorrow Never Dies is underrated as well. They tried to make it all a bit more down to earth and as per the Dalton ones, it got a bad reaction. And then in response they got ridiculous.

Chris Cornell's is for me one of the more memorable ones, the only others I can genuinely sit here right now and hum are Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die, Goldeneye, Goldfinger and Nobody Does it Better. I put Cornell's up there with those, which is high praise.

Yeah was a big stealth ship or something. Big German guy was a tank, and kinda made up for Pryce's weedyness. I remember a great bike chase in China(?).

Isn't that the one with the mobile phone-controlled BMW? Though tbf, teenage me thought it was the coolest thing ever.

And obviously still nowhere near as ridiculous as the invisible car.

Live and Let Die pumps my Bond nads in a way few others do. Absolutely agree- the Craig themes have been musical tapioca.

IT REALLY WAS BASICALLY BETTER IN MY DAY/ BLOODY KIDS / ETC
