I bought a secondhand Wii two days ago, and it came with everything needed to connect it to the TV.. It's functioning properly, but there's one problem: it's in black and white, and quite grainy. I have a feeling it's the 'tv', because it's just an Alba DVD player and TV combi. But if it's not, I'd appreciate the help (I'm kinda a noob when it comes to these things). |
Why is my Wii is in black and white?

Registered 14 years agoMaybe the old owner set it to 60hz, and your TV doesn't support it.
Go to the video options and set 576i. -
Eat your carrots it will return to yellow soon -

Registered 10 years agoLol, there is another potential issue. It could have been supplied to you with component cables not more standard rca. They should be yellow, red and white. If they are blue, green and red Then they are component. May be worth a look as I bought component for my wii. -

Is the title of this thread specifically designed to fuck with my head?
Took me three attempts to read it and I've had one beer. -

Yeah, I've checked, and the cables are in the right places. I don't think it's them. -

Registered 12 years agoHave you tried changing to all the input channels (AV1 AV2 ...) on your tv?
It might be on the s-video input right now.
What kind of cable did you get with your Wii, the one with 3 or 5 connectors?
It's not a wii mini (red and black) by any chance? -
NTSC somewhere in the settings? -

I tried doing that, but I can only set the video output to 1080i, 720p or 576p. It says 576i is not supported, so it might be the TV itself.

I've tried changing to all the input channels, no luck. The only one which displays anything at all is AV2, which is in black and white.

I got the one with just 3 connectors, could that be it? (It's not a Wii Mini.) -
Why is my dig is so big and wide? Strong cable, shiny connector -

Registered 12 years agoAlso Malek86 was talking about the wii video settings, not the tv settings.
There's no way you can select 1080i or 720p on the wii itself. -

I tried that too but it wouldn't let me choose it for some reason? -
