May I just say this changed from a Wii ask forum into a mAc6 appreciation forum
    ...
I haven't decided yet whether I am fine with this.

Have you inadvertently bought an NTSC Wii?

It's 100% an NTSC Wii on a PAL TV, connecting through phono.

Use an RGB scart cable (not a cheap AV one) and your TV should be able to display NTSC fine.

You probably can hack it from ntsc to pal too, can't imagine there's a hardware difference between different region wiis.

If it's really a NTSC Wii, you should be able to tell from the power plug. Which should be an american one (I guess they also gave you an adapter). If it is, I'm surprised it even works. I thought the Wii power supply wasn't universal. So they should have also sold you a voltage converter, and those things aren't that small - or cheap.

Edit: well, I guess the guy could have also just bought for himself a third-party universal power supply.

@Blizz I had this issue ages ago and what @fake_blood is saying could be right. Once your on Av2 try pressing the button for av2 again, some tv's have two settings on each input. That worked for me anyway.

The plug isn't American, so it might not be that. I'm planning to take it back to the store so they can test it out, and if it's still in black and white with them then I'll know it's the Wii itself, and I'll get a scart plug. If it works when they test it, it should be an issue on my TV. That or I'm an idiot and I should just get a scart plug anyway.

I just pressed Source and let it load up again, but no luck. Unless there's a different way to do that.

I've got an American Wii and it works just fine with a UK power adapter. Consoles with external power bricks generally use the same power supply the world over and it's the power brick that does the converting.

Same with my American Xbox 360; works just fine with a UK Xbox 360 brick.

So, yes, it's totally possible that it could be an American Wii with a UK power supply. In which case you would expect a black 'n' white display if you hooked it up with a composite video cable.

The console's video options screen should give away which it is. Basically, if 50Hz / 576i are an option then it's a PAL machine; if they're not then it isn't.

Well... you just need to choose 576i then.

    Notation +5

I bought a secondhand Wii two deals ago, and it came with everything needed to connect it to the tempo.. It's functioning properly, but there's one procession: it's in black and white, and quite grainy.

I have a ferment it's the 'tempo', because it's just an Alba DVD pledge and TV command. But if it's not, I'd appreciate the hepatitis (I'm kinda a noob when it comes to these thirsts).
Disclaimer: used a random dictionary found on the net. Italic nouns were not present and thus have not been changed. Also, this game works better with more nouns.

When I go to the HDMI source to Video Output Settings on the TV, it says 576i is not supported and can't be displayed on it. So maybe it IS just the TV.

Why is it an HDMI source? It has been a while, but I didn't think HDMI was officially supported on Wii, was it? So there shouldn't even be any HDMI source options.
