Every now and then I try to find an album on Spotify and it's just not there. Bloody annoying.

I've recently failed to add songs from:
    Against perfection by Adorable
My Brain Hurts by Screeching Weasel

to my nostalgia playlist. They did however manage to add
Everything's alright forever by The Boo Radleys after YEARS of only serving the horrible Wake Up!...

But then you can't mix it in with your Spotify music... can you? I still buy all my music because there's too much not on streaming platforms, and I don't trust them to keep what they do have forever.

    EDIT: @AB

What do you mean “mix it in”?
    It’s digital music .

For example you have a Spotify playlist of 1000 songs and you would like the tracks from the album you just purchased interspersed.

Would have been In Rainbows album by Radiohead, but I think they added it like a year or two ago.

MGS Rising: Revengance Soundtrack. I think it's available in some countries, but not over here.

A year old thread, with no replies, bumped by a bot.

12 months late, but Tonka might be still about.

I am trying Tidal right now - it was on life support a year ago, not sure why it's even still around - but bloody hell, it's so much better. Much better curated playlists, more labels (Drag City for example), plus liner notes, etc.

It's amazing what difference the interface makes. I got a free year of Google music and binned it early to go back to Spotify because the app is terrible and their desktop app is a crappy website.

The two have pretty much the same library, but one has an awful UI so away it goes.

Aha, I suppose there are many use cases I'm unlikely to encounter.

I don't have albums on spotify, only individual songs. The annoying part is when songs that used to be there suddenly get removed, like spotify only has the right temporarily. It'll still be in my list, just greyed out.

Yep, that's why streaming services for me are only for sampling new music before buying.

This is why I prefer Google Music. I've uploaded my entire CD / MP3 collection to it and it "mixes in" with everything on their end. Not quite as good a selection as Spotify but not far off and prefer the app.

The best bit though is having cloud based access to MY entire music collection...much of which isn't on Spotify anyway.

Are people too lazy to even pirate these days?

I have no idea. I still use a CD player.

I'm surprised you even have spotify, you're the dude with the pre-amps and the dacs and stuff.

    I don't, used to though.
I have Apple Music on my phone and I'm trialling Qobuz mostly at home just now.
For trying music out, Spotify is fine for me anyway, as is Apple Music.

I just head to YouTube to try out music, not much that isn't uploaded by somebody, somewhere. Then just buy the album.
