Yeah, 1 and 2 far superior.

I've not watched it for over ten years i reckon, so no idea how it stands up.

I'm haunted by when they brought The Fast Show back.

    Arse!

This really is tremendous news. Loved the series and was lucky to see the live show twice too. I need to rewatch, although I have to say, I don't recall much of S3.

    @Dougs
    Morning mate
In order of brilliance I go with

    TV series 1+2
Xmas special (Bernice and Vet Chinnery are ace)
    Radio
    TV series 3
    Live
    Film

Saying all that I am a huge fan of all their collective macabre work.

Ah, the radio shows, got them on tape somewhere. I would say they're the best. Mike in the caves is just brilliant.

Is that the deadpan tour guide one, someone had died? It was brilliant, Mark Gatiss is great.

@mrpon Ahaha that was so fucking dark, looking at the shapes of the stalagmites and stalagtites:

'Here we have Santa Claus, his beard and sack. The Wombles – note how the sediment forms the brim of Orinoco’s hat. The specimen jar…the toffee apple…and Errol Flynn. This one over here…people say, “Mick, that doesn’t look like anything at all”. But I don’t know…when I look at it I seem to see a little pair of hands clutching at a slippery rope, sliding down, down into the dark water. Sometimes I’ll stand here for hours…just looking at it'.

Jeeze, I'd totally forgotten going to see them live once. It was a really great show.

Looking forward to the new episodes. I bet they're self-aware enough to completely deconstruct the Papa Lazarou blackface.

I didn't know there was a radio show. Is it available anywhere?

I know Gatiss has said Barbara wouldn't be the same character if the series was debuting today. I wonder if they'll acknowledge her or whether it'll be a lot of new stuff

Very happy about this. It really captured my imagination as an impressionable 15-year-old when it first aired way back when. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. I still start every day with a fresh glass of aqua vita.

They're all on iTunes. You can get the lot as an audiobook for £6.95.

Gonna rewatch these I think. I only ever saw series 3 once, and remember not liking it because it was a different format. I reckon I'd appreciate it a lot more now.

Excuse me, has anybody got a bottle of orange juice?

Which series was it when it cuts to the job centre guy shagging Pauline from behind? I think that's the only time I've actually done the mythical spitting coffee out thing.

Season 3 is kind of the best and worst of it I think. The strong episodes are brilliant, but there’s a couple like the joke shop guy episode that feel like filler. To be honest there’s more of the latter, but The Lesbian and the Monkey is absolutely brilliant.

Yeah Season 3 is certainly a bit of a mixed bag, especially when directly compared to 1 & 2, which are just exceptional.

That being said, the episode in S3 with the special needs chap and the boy, who soup up their racer car to fight crime (whilst listening to a cassette copy of the night rider theme!), and proceed to get the utter shit kicked out of themselves, absolutely killed me as a teenager.

Gonna get on it all tonight. I just hope the new ones are decent but they're all such good writers and performers, I can't see how they can fill 3 episodes and it not be funny.

The straw that broke the camels back for me in S3 was an episode with swingers(?) in Rab C Nesbitt style clothes (with added latex) and some sort of vacuum cleaner.

Had no idea what was going on, or even if it was the same show.

    I quite like that one!

The main problem with S3 is they had to largely focus on the second tier characters that hadn't really had much focus before, and they're second tier for a reason.

Which doesn't bode particularly well for this comeback, but perhaps they'll just resurrect all the favourites again. They certainly should.

Wasn't the film pretty awful as well? I can't remember much of it.
