Spot on.
it doesn't worth money, as always apple made phone for $300 and sell for $1000
No r&d is needed for these devices. Just buy a bit of glass and some sensors off Amazon and build it yourself. The software writes itself.

Registered 18 years agoI love the gestures. Reminds me of a jailbreak tweak I used years ago, Zephyr, when the home button on my iPhone 4 broke and I couldn’t be bothered fixing.
Two minds about Face ID.
It’s great for everyday use when you’re holding it, and it REALLY comes into its own browsing and authenticating for passwords. Sounds like nothing when you only had to previously rest your finger on Touch ID, but it feels much more seamless when it just authenticates without the need to interact.
It has trouble with my face in the morning though. Virtually everyday I have to enter my code when I get up. Equally, it is a bit of pain when it’s lying flat. Funny how wireless charging has finally come to Apple, yet the phone is now a pain to unlock when flat. Solved by an angled charger I suppose, but still. I don’t use wireless charger anyway, still happy with a wire, and combined with a 29w charger it’s blistering fast to top up.

That might be a feature tbh. It might have gone into hard lock down or some such. Mess about in the settings and you might find something to get rid of it.

Registered 18 years agoI thought that may be the case, but it’s hit and miss. Sometimes I enter the code, put it down, pick it up 10 minutes later when I’m getting up, and it asks again/sometimes unlocks. -

Registered 17 years agoIts the setting that tells the phone not to unlock unless you're looking at it. With it off it'll unlock at wider angles, so it should make it easier to use when laying on a desk, for example. -

Tell me about the new gestures
Faceid mixed with the gesture controls is just amazing. I had my reservations as I was a big fan of touchid but this is better. Much, much better. Delighted with it. Slippery fucker though so going to have to stump up for case. -

Swiping up to close and swiping up and holding to switch apps. I thought it would be clunky and some reviewers said as much. But it is infinitely better than before. Means you are never leaving the screen and having to double tap buttons. All feels more fluid and fast. Reminding me of the touch pads on the MacBooks which to this day are better than any other trackpad or mouse configuration you can find. Set it up with customisable gestures and it works like a dream. I hope Apple expand on this in the phone.

BTW I saw my mate’s at the weekend with a white official Apple silicone case and thought it looked pretty nice. -

Registered 17 years agoMy X arrived earlier today. I’m liking all this screen. Face ID mostly seems to work but definitely not as reliable as Touch ID, seems to only work if I’m facing it head on. Also none of my banking apps support it, which annoying.
The gestures mostly became second nature within an hour or two, except having to hold on the app switcher to bring up the close icon instead of swiping up, seems an unnecessary change that adds another layer for no good reason. Overall though I like it very much. -

Registered 18 years agoYeah, I swipe 45 degrees, linger for a fraction of a second, lift thumb and et voilà. No need to hold and wait.

Registered 10 years agoJust in case some of you close apps all the time: don't. Except for crashed apps, the only thing manually closing apps does is shorten battery life and slow down opening apps. -
Also: a neat gesture is swiping horizontally to the right on the home indicator bar at the bottom to go to the previous apps. You can also swipe left to go forward again, although you'll have to do this within a second or so of swiping right, else the current app becomes the new "first" in the list.
