@wuntyate Loved the game, coincidentally I have just gone back to the first due to a Gamepass quest. I had left it at chapter 11, 4 years earlier. I may well try and complete, depending on how many more instdeath sections there are! |

Registered 8 years agoAfter bouncing off the first very early on I got completely absorbed by it on my next attempt and actually hold it in very high regard. Curious to see how this one is different being more open world at points. One thing that worries me is the whole ammo thing. The first game, because it was so linear, you knew that all you needed to do was to get by each encounter. This on the other hand I'm worried that I'll spunk all my bullets on an optional thing and not have enough resources to get by the harder bits.
We'll see I suppose. -

Registered 14 years agoI think it just rubber bands ammo a little tbh.
You'll definitely have to manage it a bit but I'd say use the full arsenal, you will pick up and craft more as you go.

Registered 4 years agoI feel like this is what Resident Evil Village would be if it was third person. A little bit open world but not enough to be overwhelmed. Some enemies you can't kill and need to hide/run and others which can be tough to take down. It's a great game. -

Registered 8 years ago@mikew1985 Ah cool, yeah that would make sense.
I'm looking forward to more fucking weirdness. Already had a nod to Twin Peaks red room, then that bloody zombie woman smashing the boys head off the table after force feeding him food was... Incredibly fucked up to say the least. -

Registered 9 months agoHeh i was thinking of starting the first one again. I also never finished it. TEW2 is excellent @wuntyate
It ticks all the survival horror boxes. -

Registered 8 years ago@addybV3 Don't know why I left it so long before starting it to be honest, especially after finishing the first one which, I honestly think, gets unfairly bashed. -

Registered 8 years agoBlimey. This is great.
Alas the pop in is very jarring. Don't recall the first game suffering like this.

Registered 2 years agoBack when the first one came out pretty much everyone on here hated it, including me, although I did actually finish it. The game was patched a bit though (I think with some better display fixes in particular) and I’d be interested to get it in a PSN sale sometime and see if it is still terrible.
I thought the second game fixed all the problems with the first and managed to be a pretty great story follow up as well I thought. The story was the strongest part of the first game. -

Registered 8 years ago@davidfowles Yeah I remember seeing everyone's comments as they played it and I think that put me off it for a long time. I think I'm weird as once I got into it I seriously loved it.
This one is great, apart from the pop in as I said, which is incredibly distracting. Very odd. Wonder if it's to do with backwards compat on PS5 or if it's always like that. That's my only quibble so far. It's wondefully crazy. Every house I wander into has some shit going ong. Last night I walked in front of some kind of plantation house only to be randomly stalked by a ghost lady, before going into a smaller house and ending up back in Beacon mental hospital.
I did the mobius guys resonances and found my way to an armory so I'm currently rocking a laser pistol, shotgun and crossbow. Hardly any ammo of course, I seem to just have enough to scrape by, which is fine.
Those creepy croaky ladies that take more than one sneak attack freak me out however. Powered up a car workshop and one just walks out the doorway next to me. Take a fair few shots to go down. Luckily I had an axe.

Always happy to see this thread get a bump!
Only three years later but I've finally started this after buying it about 2 years ago. The only thing that changed in the interim was that I DID end up going back to the first game, playing it through to the end and loving the absolute shit out of it. I felt I needed some time before starting this one but finishing RE8 has put me right in the mood for more horror so I've fired this up.
Only done the first hour or so but glad to see it's as fucking mental as the first game.
It’s baffles me….like, absolutely blows my mind…that the Resident Evil series gets so much love & adoration (which it deserves) yet TEW gets largely ignored.
The first game rivals RE4 for me (not as good, but pretty close) whilst TEW2 is in my top 5 games of all time……and I’ve been around since the C64 days.
If Microsoft have for any sense they’ll have TEW3 in pre-production ASAP! -

I saw her in a house first and I had a wee stealth bit to do, and I escaped.
Definitely complete the ghost lady sections, very much worth it.
When I bumped into her outside this plantation house though I wasn't sure what to do so ended up leaving the area, as I couldn't get inside the house... -

First one, which I have returned to after years (currently chapter 11) reminds me of AitD so much, especially the version we got on 360. This is better though.
As to the Second game, I'm just as old/young as you mate although I started on a Vic20😁 and I agree re TEW2 being ace. -

Registered 8 years ago@JamboWayOh I like a dirty mouth. Besides. It's how I feel. Sure, it didn't have a crazy dwarf to contend with, but I loved how absolutely fucked up it was from start to finish. -
I remember in the build up to TEW being released all the talk was about it being a “spiritual successor” to RE4 and, at that end of the day, they are very similar games.
I personally think TEW is a better horror game (much creepier IMO) but RE4 is the better game overall.
However……I think TEW2 is better than RE4. In fact, I think the only Resi game that’s better than TEW2 is RE2 remake….and even that I’m not 100% about!
