Well those fundamentals do like to harp on that God has a plan for everybody. Guess God's plan for this guy was to experience consequences for his actions.

But people like O'Reilly and Trump don't seem to buy into the concepts of consequence or responsibility. If something bad happens to them, it's because someone hates them. Whatever turns out against their favour is unjust. Their previous actions don't even come to mind, they don't matter, they don't have anything to do with anything.

He keeps using his children as a reason to lay off him too.

In other news, George HW Bush (senior) has been accused of groping women.

Dunno how to feel about this. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'mma let a 90+ grandpa slide. It seems like a good-hearted attempt at bad, old fashioned humor from a generation ago. Besides, we need someone to keep the dirty grandpa trope alive. He's already issued an apology and the actress has backed off.

Well yeah, his is definitely worse in terms of context, I was more referring to the age thing.

I don't think being too old should discount you from getting called up for shit.

That's true. Every time I hear that someone has received a reduced sentence on grounds of their age or ill health I get pretty annoyed.

Did Rolf actually rape his victims? I thought he was jailed on lesser grounds?

Probably already been posted but director James Toback has now had approx 300 allegations against him now. He was notorious and well known for doing this. There was even a phrase actresses used "Oh no! You've been Toback'd!"

Anyway, Huff Post posted a gushing article on him after seeing his latest film The Private Life of a Modern Woman which praised him for really, really knowing women.

You could say he's had plenty of practice.

Corey Feldman's name came up in this thread several pages back; would be interesting to see how this develops:

"I'm not fucking paying extra for choreography, I'll do that shit myself!"

Ironically his book is actually called 'Coreyography'

Bad, old-fashioned humour doesn't allow anyone to grope women. "Good-hearted"? For God's sake. And what message does that send? Are all old creeps excused to grope women now? I don't believe the victims share that sentiment.

Yeah, I really hate the 'I'm old, so let me off' defence. It's like people seem to think you hit an arbitrary number and suddenly you become some kind of innocent, sweet person and are absolved of all previous wrongdoings. Case in point; Josef Fritzl, old guy but evil as fuck.

Let me put this as subtly as I can:

The argument that we shouldn't tear down statues of confederate soldiers because statues of George Washington would be next otherwise, is rubbish. The reason is that Washington is part of a darker past that slowly graduated into a brighter future, while the confederacy took a wrong turn somewhere.

Do I excuse what Washington did? No, but we shouldn't tear him down because history caught up with him.

Do I excuse what HW Bush did? No, but we shouldn't tear him down because a new generation caught up with him. Not least because it's not as bad as the dark turn that O'Reilly and Weinstein took, Bush immediately apologized and the lady in question doesn't seem intent on pursuing. In fact, she took down her post.

George W only groped women because of Clinton's emails... or something.

There’s a fine chance Bush has gone soft in the head and like many nonegarians isn’t able to control himself all that well anymore.

Considering allegations so far are all from very recent times, ima go with that theory.

I actually think it's an old people thing.

My grandmother used to be a prude, up to her 75th birthday and she started flirting with the young male nurse of the home.

I've seen a documentary about Rockefeller. Deeply religious person. Then he retired and all the young girls visiting the estate claimed "they should handcuff that old rooster."

Might be the mindset of getting old. Pluck the day while it lasts.

An unnamed male radio presenter on the BBC has been accused of sexual harassment, namely groping. My money's on Grimshaw, he's just been pretending to be gay all this time. The swine.

But this has fuck to do with statues being torn down. It's also not about tearing down Bush. It's about everyone's right to not be groped, harassed, stalked, etc. I don't get what's so hard to understand about that. How old the offender is does not matter.
