I like Nia too. I hated Zeke at first but ended up finding him pretty funny.
Nia is the best damn character in the game, to be fair. -

Registered 15 years agoYeah, don't worry about it
Although it must be said that the explanation of the various mechanics is a bit "brief". But there are plenty of guides to be found that explain them better than the game itself does. -

Registered 12 years ago@Zidargh Definitely look up some explanations on the battle system, because the game can't really be arsed to tell you about it. -

Registered 15 years agoFriends help me get this game.
I seem to be enjoying it. I知 curious about it, the battle system is engaging even though it takes too long, and the characters besides Tora are likeable. Seriously there was a seriously cringey scene with him.
But the pacing is all off. I知 in Chapter 4 and I知 worried I知 rushing through. There seem to be a lot of side quests but unusually for an RPG I don稚 feel compelled to explore them. Perhaps I知 spoiled by the Witcher. Making matters worse is I知 either seriously under levelled or dramatically over levelled. I like the idea of collecting Blades but are they just superficial?
Is it worth taking my time with this and exploring? Or is it more or the same throughout? -

Registered 13 years agoTo be honest, the story is the main reason to play through it and the side quests are a bit of padding.
That said, plenty of blades have their own side stories and they are well worth doing.
Ultimately, it's your game and your playthrough. Do what you want really. Personally I didn't get all the blades and certainly didn't do all the side quests but I loved the main story and would gladly play it through all over again. -

Registered 9 years agoI liked exploring because of the beautiful environments, but I wouldn't say that it's necessary. The blade side quests are cool, but the main story is the main attraction.
It's a very different game to Witcher 3. I understand how playing that could ruin other games for you (it made me seriously re-evaluate Bethesda RPGs), but I think this is different enough for me to be able to appreciate it for what it is. -

Registered 11 years agoI would stick to the mostly to the main story missions in Xenoblade. The side quests tend to be pretty simplistic "filler" - nothing like the quality of the Witcher.
The game is plenty long enough regardless. I have played the game for over 70 hours, skipping most of the side quests, and still not got to the end of the story! -

Registered 15 years agoBlades are important because they're key to ensuring battles don't take ages. You need to know how to do blade combos and having a good setup of blades is essential for executing that. -

Registered 15 years agoXC2 is kind of weird in the way you can pretty much faceroll everything first time around, with ony barely skimming the complexity of the combat. In NG+ and cranking the diffiucly you need certain blade setuops, equipmment, chips, whatver, but for now just enjoy the story, do sidequest that look interesting or are on the way anyway. -
Iirc you can decrease the difficulty anyway at any time, so it should be possible to plough straight through the main story without worrying about being underlevelled.
