@Decks To be fair, they would only improve the comments. Never seen as many idiots on Neogaf as in, say, the Mordor face-off. -

@Malek86 Can't say I read it often, but whenever I did (mostly "OTs" to upcoming games), it was a civil, mostly troll-free and useful discussion.
Not sure why people are so keen to see it disappear when truly abhorrent communites like vast parts of Reddit, Gamefaqs or the IGN forums still exist. -

Registered 8 years agoTheir 'official' Witcher 3 thread did have a good subheading. 'Was going to search for Ciri, but then it all gwent wrong'.
Other than that though, as i was banned from there for disagreeing with a mod, i'd be quite happy to see it go for good. -

Registered 8 years agoIt’s not that bad a place to be honest, literally one of a few places that had a handle on its user base when gamer gate was happening. Any gaters that feigned ignorance and spouted bullocks were rightfully banned. It as also moderated the nazi/censorship/anime avatars brigade stuff well too.
Guess they couldn’t moderate there own staff though....
Frustrating place to post on for sure as all gaming forums are, but when the likes of 4 chan exist it is one of the better gaming forums imo.
Saying that with this and the paedo mod maybe it is better it dies. -

Registered 16 years agoIt really is one of the best places for video game related stuff and much better than the toxic shit you find on Reddit, IGN etc. Some of the community threads like Wow, Destiny and Souls were pretty awesome with plenty of interesting discussions and help of you needed it. -

I quite liked OT discussions on neogaf as I was playing through a game, as they weren't just the endless collections of memes and textspeak that makes Reddit hard to follow and the site as a whole didn't tolerate all the gamergate fuckwittery. Ah well.

@JoelStinty happy to admit I'm still pretty unclear what "gamergate" is and I've no idea what an SJW is (my mind kept coming up with possible meanings last night when it should have been sleeping).
Only looked at little bits of neogaf about games I had and it seemed okay there. Never had an account or anything, but it seemed fairly normal. Reading up on it since all this has happened since people make it sound like an off shoot of the dark Web. -

Registered 6 years agoGamergate is the conspiracy theory that gaming is run by a zionist secret illuminati. It's a theory whereby games are implanted with mind control coding which makes those who play them more placid and easy to control. SJW stands for secret jew weasel. -

Loving the schadenfreude from Xbox fans who thought there was an anti-MS conspiracy on GAF. Because XBO would have been a roaring success if it wasn’t for those pesky NeoGAF posters! -
@Decks ah cheers. That makes perfect sense now and something I'd anyways suspected was the case... Or at least that's what Stardew Valley made me think. -

If I hadn't just googled sjw from the weinstein thread I would've probably believed all this post
