I really loved the demo of the first Infamous. Then I got the game, did the first area, and then realised that, in the next area, I'd be doing the exact same things, but this time fighting bin men.

I know that's true of a lot of games (well, maybe not the bin men bit), but for some reason it bothered me more in Infamous.

Never played any of the others.

I'm fully into this game, basically Kurosawa of the Wild.

Art design and graphics looked great, everything else looked like a Ubisoft game.

    Bit of a shame really.

What things looked like a Ubisoft game?

    Maps filled with question marks
    "You found a shrine!"
    Clearing camps
Stealth looked very similar to Ass Creed
    Gathering resources

May be too early to judge but it looked very similar to a lot of open world games in the Ubisoft mould.

Witcher 3 also had camps and question marks and the map didn't seem that cluttered. Tbf we've only seen a snippet of the game.

I guess one of the issues is that you're always going to run up against genre expectations and what areas they believe they can iterate/innovate on.

    A tricky balance.

Witcher 3 had an incredible story, characters and quests (and people were fairly confident of this after Witcher 2) to go along with the general world map stuff. Different strokes too - I turned off the question marks in Witcher 3 straight away because the map looked cluttered as hell.

I hope I'm wrong but consdering Sucker Punch's pedigree I can't see them pulling Witcher 3 level quality out of the bag. Here's hoping!

The lack of a direction marker and using wind to guide to you was pretty novel.

Watching now, fairly sure it doesnít visually stack up to what they showed before, thought we were past these days. Itís looked next gen last time, looks more like current gen this time. Iíll still play the shit out of it, itís looks and sounds very cool. I think these action adventure open world games are my favourite these days.

Odd question, but yeah. I didnít randomly mention them because they werenít in discussion. Strange how that works.

Specifically for your benefit, because I know what youíre angling at, I also like Halo, Forza Horizon and Ori but I donít care for Forza Motorsport or Gears that much anymore. Isnít that weird!

Iíd wager that youíre right. Iím expecting Ďgood open-worldí rather than Ďdefining open-worldí. If the Japanese/samurai style doesnít do it for you I think itíll likely be safe to skip.

Looked excellent to me. Better than most other games this generation.

It was far inferior to the Unreal Engine V PS5 tech demo though. So maybe that skewed the opinion.

Last time I saw Ghost of Tsushima I thought it looked too good to be this generation. However post that UE5 demo it now does indeed look this gen.

You can "just" do a BOTW and do exactly your own thing without aping so many other games.

Nope, that's not what I was angling at. Do you like MS games wasn't my question.

My question was in reference to noticing that any time anyone criticizes any Sony exclusive you are first to defend said game. I've never read in the EG forums of you being very critical of a Sony game and I've been a lurker here for some time. My thought process then asked if it wasn't a Sony exclusive would you even care about the criticism. Sorry I asked since I see I needed to go further in explaining my reasoning.

I hope they tone down the visual effects of the wind and the "you can collect this" shine. It seems at odds with how nice the world looks.

Yeah, I think there's probably something in this. It looked good to me, but there were cries of downgrade after that stream.

The shiny plants did stick out to me as well. It seemed a bit at odds with the minimal UI/follow wind, birds to your destination etc, but I guess in a world full of vegetation they do need to communicate what the resources are to the player.

Canít agree on that, enjoyed all of them. First Light is excellent and Second Son was one of my fave early PS4 games.

Iíll keep an eye on Ghost, not a day one purchase but hopefully reviews well enough.

Thatís your confirmation bias Iím afraid. Iím plenty critical of Sony stuff too, and I donít like everything they put out.

I do like a chunk of it though, which is why I favour the platform this gen to spend my time with, strange as that may seem.
