    @DUFFMAN5

Yeah Iíd heard that. So Iíll probably tidy up what I want to do in terms of tales before I finish act 2 then power through to the end.

Iím making it sound like itís not enjoyable. It is, itís just too big IMO.

I think nearly all big budget single player games are getting too long now, I say that as someone who likes to think they are getting plenty of bang for their buck!

I think itís that I have such limited gaming time nowadays I have little tolerance for Ďpointlessí filler ;)

Well I guess no-one else really plays this now, but I just finished the raid and wanted to share.

Of the 3 raid 'chapters', the last was actually pretty underwhelming in an otherwise brilliant game.

I'm playing it at the mo but just really enjoying the wandering Ronin gameplay... Spent loads of time in act 1 and did a few story missions to open up act 2 and pretty much back to just wandering around the place murdering dudes that deserve to be murdered.

One of the few open world games with a horse where I'll just trot along admiring the scenery... Fuck me it looks beautiful!
Side stories have been great so far too. It's looking like a GotY for me already.

Yeah, the story was exemplary and it was GOTY for me, even before the multiplayer and raid was added as a freebie.

    Outstanding

I mostly hammered the main story as I was so engrossed. Definitely one of the best stories in a game Iíve played. No padding. Just a fantastic narrative.
The map now looks a little overwhelming so Iím not sure Iíll do it all. Iíll finish the mythic tales and some tales.

There was absolutely loads of padding, its a great game but let's not get carried away.

You could be generous and say the Ďpaddingí was all Ďbonusí content. The core game is pretty lean and you donít really have to go beyond it at all, but if you want thereís extra stuff to do as well.

I played through doing the odd tale and other stuff but mostly the story, but since Iíve finished the main game Iíve frequently dipped back in to clean bits up. Itís just fun to play.

There is no padding in the main storyline. Iím not suddenly running off to do a random tale which is required to progress the main story.

It still takes 20 hours mainlining the story, not all of that is top notch content which is what I meant by padding.

You want me to go through an entire 20 hour campaign and tell you which bits weren't top notch. I think I might give that a miss thanks.

There were plenty of so-so missions. Act II had the only genuinely awe inspiring mission for me (and boy was it amazing) that shat on others in the genre; the rest built to a good crescendo and a satisfying ending.

Not sure how one would mainline the quests without taking over a load of villages and farms and wotnot though? You need materials for the upgrade system in the very least. Unless youíre way better at the game than I was at least. :-D

Itís a funny old game this. People that love it really canít stand to hear anything remotely negative said about it. It was a good game for me, solid 7 or 8 with the combat and setting carrying the rest. I even platinumed it. Some of the Mythic Tales were better than the story actually. But some were rubbish. :)

    It's so absurdly good looking...

I think, playing this game on PS5.... it might not be the 'technically best' graphics there are, but with the art direction, it's probably the game... how to put this... that I've most enjoyed looking at. By a long way.

Every 5 minutes or so, you just stop and sort of think ooo... aaah....

    Disgustingly pretty

Yeah its absolutely stunning despite some of the texture work being really average.

And beyond the looks, good lord, I love it. Minimalist HUD, tasteful, peaceful audio, challenging combat, interesting progression, balanced stealth. Very much enjoying this.

Yeah the textures are a bit ropey up close. But the, er, overall, 'big picture' image is so often jaw-dropping.

I love the wind mechanic too. So much interesting than a line on a map.

I found the game somehow got less gorgeous as I got through it which was a bit disappointing. The first act is definitely the prettiest (and wow is it pretty).

I thought 2 looked just as good as 1. But yeah 3 was a let down.

2 seemed more grey and dreary. I missed those beach sunsets.

Did you know the weather changes depending on how you play it? Something to do with the way you kill people makes the weather more shitty. You can get it to clear with one of the flute songs. I was forever doing it on Act 2 to make it look pretty.

I played the flute all the time, it was my sign off after mass murders.

Yeah I wouldn't have known if it hadn't have been for this thread around release time.
